I also need to burn some PTO before the end of the year and double dip on remaining comps before they dry up as I've found myself gambling much less in recent years. I still enjoy bells and whistles, but my trips are getting shorter and the bankroll has intentionally gotten smaller. The final factor for this quick getaway was finding a nonstop r/t ticket for under $60 arriving early on Monday and heading home Tuesday afternoon which gives me just 31 1/2 hours in the city. Home base is a (somehow still comped) premium king at the Cal and there will be trips to the Arts District and the west strip between Bellagio and NYNY. I am a planner by nature and by trade, so I jotted up up a quick agenda and by coincidence it all looks to line with the CX and Deuce schedules which I haven't taken in years. This TR is mostly going to be me seeing if I can stick to this plan for fun: arrive early AM, take CX to downtown - walk to FedEx a block away, pick up package I sent myself last week (I like to enjoy some nice beer and bourbon, first time trying this method and it's also ~$35 cheaper than checking a bag) - walk to Cal and hopefully have a room available early, put beer in fridge, earn enough TC to maintain Sapphire - run off Club One FP and boarding pass match play - light lunch at Le Thai take Deuce to Arts District - haircut at Imperial DTLV around the corner from Silver Stamp (which is inconveniently closed on 9/30 for Halloween decorating) - light second lunch at Good Pie - afternoon snack across the street at Freed's or Cream Me take Deuce back to downtown - cheers to the Manneken Pis at The D with a bottle of 2016 Cantillon gueuze (pic is from a trip last year, wish the weather would be the same ) - shower/nap/gambool/second bottle of Cantillon - dinner at 8 East to use F&B comps take CX to Horseshoe , cross over to Bellagio - kill time with gambool and cocktail bars while headed south (would love recs for spots with a good Aperol spritz or similar) - Mad Apple late show at NYNY ($25 second row stage left ticket, thanks VMB for the heads up!) I'll probably stroll around for a bit after the show and hunt for a snack before eventually heading back north, but that's it for the action list. Tuesday is a new month of comps, so there will be a quick churn of FP and a stop at Saginaw's or 8 East for a last free meal before catching the CX or an Uber to the airport. first gamble of the trip is a win - forgot to choose a seat and did not end up in the center row!
Seems like a lot of stuff crammed into 31.5 hours @boxsocial FedEx yourself booze - you’ll have to let us know how that turns Good luck & have fun
was a little behind this morning and had to pay a premium for parking cause I wasn't going to make the economy lot shuttle, but TSA flagged my bag and missed my vape cartridge so we'll call it even. boarded with nobody sitting next to me, ready for a nice nap and to wake up in Vegas!
good news - flight arrived half an hour early bad news - just missed the CX and another hour til it comes back, so my $2 trip downtown is now $30 + tip
online check-in not working, get to the Cal and they have a room available but for the first time ever they demanded a check-in fee of $22+ unless I want to wait until 1pm. thus far I am 3/3 on reluctantly paying the piper today, so let's hope that's the end of it. off to retrieve strategic booze!
first gamble of the trip marked wins, converted $50 match play into $75 on roulette and in for $10 out for a Silver Strike at 4Q. walked over to FedEx and my box was waiting, very pleased with how seamless this went. into the fridge with these and off to Circa with me
random slotting and some VP with Aperol sprtizes at Vue Bar and upstairs at Cal, still ahead for the trip had time for a toast before lunch at Le Thai just got back from my haircut, too hot to walk around the Arts District today but more food will happen sooner than later.
brought the mini bourbon pours with me to Circa, enjoyed some Russell's Reserve 15yr and Blanton's Gold while turning $20 into $200+ on Dragon Train via 50c bets. if it ain't broke...
more quads at Vue Bar and 8 East takeout also had a good time at Mad Apple, great experience from the cheap seats.
apparently I did some walking yesterday, definitely feeling it this morning. ended up walking from NYNY to Bellagio, crossing over and going up to Palazzo. I usually don't spend much time on this strip, so it was nice to get a change of scenery.
morning started with a successful FP conversion along with a breakfast burrito and parfait from Saginaw's. had my late check-out request denied at the Cal, so I guess we're toasting and slotting for a few extra hours before the flight.
