    My Trip Report

It worked! I had five weeks summer vacation. I flew from Sweden (home) to Dubai august 8th and spent 16 days there to be safe for the 14 day threshold.. Flew to Vegas from Dubai via Los Angeles on the 24th of August and spent another 18 days there.

During my time in Dubai I also made use of the 2 free nights at Caesars Palace Dubai (a CET diamond perk). I highly recommend making use of that comp. Best hotel and service I have experienced in my life. Its a private island with a private beach. Complimentary wine, grapes and chocolate to your room during the stay.

Thoughts on Vegas at the moment: I dont really mind the face masks, they can actually feel quite nice when you are at a crowded poker table. Ubers were a little more expensive than usual, nothing super crazy. Housekeeping was lacking. Of my 18 days I got housekeeping maybe 6 times. Weekends were lively but weekdays were not completely dead at all. Almost the same amount of people at the poker tables during the weekdays.

All in all I'm super happy I made the leap that was this trip. I love Vegas and a two year absence was enought. Now I'll be good until it opens up proper. Beforehand I could not find anyone who had made this trip on these forums. If anyone is planning to do something similar I'll glady answer questions!

I'll upload some pictures from Caesars Palace Dubai here.

I want to hear more about Dubai.
    Did you feel safe?
    What did you get?
Did you go out and about?

Dubai was a pleasant surprise. The service at hotels and restaurants is on another level. I've never really considered travelling there but went there because the missus wanted to go. Felt very safe, no problems at all. Drinking is only allowed at hotel restaurants but we are not very big drinkers so we didnt mind. A huge and variety in restaurants from all over the world. We were basically chilling by the pool until dinner when we went out. The malls are huge with good shopping. We went to a water park one day (Wild Wadi) but other than that there is not very much to do. So 2 weeks is a bit long for a regular vacation.

No gambling allowed at CP Dubai either correct? Glad you were able to enjoy the hotel.

Where did you all stay in Vegas? Play mostly all poker?

Correct. Gamling is illegal in Dubai so CP Dubai has no gaming.

In Vegas I stayed at Harrahs for 7 nights and Linq for 11 nights. Last time I'm staying at Harrahs. No housekeeping at all during the 7 nights. Also had to request a room change after a night of very rowdy neighbours in the adjoining room.

Linq was as expected a more pleasant stay. They also have the mini fridge which is a big plus.

Thanks for sharing these anecdotes, Kris! I was considering doing an extended stay in Dubai this winter, when the hotels were offering insane long-term rates with meal plans. Ended up deciding against it as it was still questionable whether or not I could get back into Canada if the COVID situation worsened here or elsewhere. One of the major "pros" for me was the top-notch service you mentioned that I'd have loved to experience, while a major "con" was that there wouldn't be much to do there for several weeks which lined right up with what you stated about taking a trip of two weeks. I was planning on status-matching to CET Diamond via Founderscard to get the two free nights at Caesars Dubai, and am glad to hear that was so enjoyable! On the list it goes for a future trip :)

Just to add onto the earlier questions about casinos in Dubai, I looked into the same thing when planning that trip and expected there to be nothing at all there gambling-wise. I was curious as to where the nearest casino might be though... and the answer to that question was Casino Du Liban just outside of Beirut, Lebanon (<4 hour flight). It looks interesting... similar to the casinos in Europe it's "Members Only" with a dress code, and one's bankroll can go very far there by Vegas standards. Seems the blackjack minimums in the private gaming salons start at LBP 250,000 / USD 163.
