    My Trip Report

We’re headed to Vegas again. I’m so excited. I know we were just there about 3 months ago but Tuesday is my husband’s 40th birthday and we wanted to make this one special. Just a quick 3 nighter. Bringing my MIL, Ann, this trip.

I decided not to book the 5 or 6am flight this time. I’m REALLY happy with that decision. We fly out tomorrow at 11a, land at 12:06p, & staying at Paris again. The flight is only 3.5 hours, I feel like they schedule 4 hours so if they’re running late, it’s still “on time”. So I anticipate arriving around 11:40ish (as long as we take off on time).

We plan on leaving for the airport around 9. It’s about a half hour from our house to walking inside the airport. I assume TSA will be quick (cause it’s IND and it’s always quick), so we should have just enough time for bathroom and coffee before boarding. We usually fly southwest, take a 2-3p flight, and have lunch and drinks at the airport beforehand. However, Southwest has greatly reduced the number of nonstop flights between IND and LAS. There used to be 6/day, now there’s 3. Usually 5a, 11a, and 7p. Blah. Luckily (if you can call flying Spirit lucky…), we’re flying Spirit this time because Southwest is having a ton of issues this weekend! Honestly, wouldn’t mind our return flight cancelled though!

Our favorite airport restaurant, Harry & Izzys, doesn’t open until 11a. If Ann arrives at our house early, we’ll head to the airport early and find somewhere for airport beer! One of the best types of beer!

We’ve hired a new house/animal sitter for this trip and I’m kind of nervous about it. We have an 8 month old puppy (he’s possibly a small horse instead of a dog), a blind dog, and a 15 year old pit bull who’s more cancer than dog. This person comes very highly recommended by some friends but I’m still nervous being so far away.

On the agenda for this trip – craps, blackjack, craps, more blackjack, and more craps. My MIL is a slot player. She has this innate ability to pick the slot machine that’s going to hit next. We were all out there in March and she sat at a machine in Flamingo, 3 spins in, hit $700, moved to a machine near by, hit $800 on her first spin, moved to a new machine again, and hit $1050 2 spins in. Hopefully, she keeps it up this trip.

    As for food –

Monday – lunch options include GR Burger or Margaritaville, dinner maybe somewhere in the Promenade
Tuesday – MAG breakfast, possibly Beer Park for lunch, and Bugsy & Meyer for birthday dinner
Wednesday – MAG breakfast, lunch TBD, and possibly GR Steak for dinner

I might, depending on how gambling is going, find somewhere to watch Colts-Ravens MNF. Starts at 5:15, so we’ll see. Maybe Yardhouse for the second half or something.

We have 4 celebration dinners to use between the 3 of us, my MIL still has her 2020. Between those and comps, I don’t think we’ll spend much out of pocket for food, which is nice.

Since we’re only in town 3 nights, we’re planning on staying pretty close to the Paris-Linq corridor. My husband is attending a conference in Vegas 11/28 – 12/04 and I’m coming with. So that trip report will be much more interesting and diverse than this one. My goal then is to visit every resort on the strip! In the mean time, hopefully I can provide food porn, drink porn, chip porn and some good view photos on this one!

Cheers and see you in the morning!

Thanks in advance for the trip report. Love the restaurants planned and your lovely pets. My neighbor had a white lab and he spent $1000's on chemo for his dog. He has one lab remaining and those dog's were his and his wife's children. So sad when he passed.

Have a great trip! My last few flights out of Indy, I've been lucky to find one Nonstop. It's starting to get a little better, but I hate those early ones.

Love the pups! Gus looks rather annoyed. LOL

Graham is almost 15 & has battled cancer 3 times! When his latest lumps started appearing, we agreed with the vet that it was best to just let him live out his life in peace. He’s still pretty energetic, I think having the puppy around the past 5 months has helped his energy & mood. We don’t have any kids of our own so we devote so much of our lives to our 10 four legged kids. It’ll be pretty hard when Graham goes. :(:(:(

I’ve actually been to Bugsy & Meyers twice before. Once Oct 2020 & then December 2020. The food is EXCELLENT, just absolutely delicious. Ordered filet Oscar. It was cooked a perfect medium rare. The rolls are unique & delicious. Pricey, obviously, but for fine dining on the strip, not too bad. The layout is a little odd. It’s open to the walkway IN Flamingo and when we were there in Oct 2020, there was a man having a very loud, vulgar argument on his phone right outside the tables. None of the staff even addressed it. There are several separate dining rooms, so not all the tables open to the walkway but still. Ugh.

    My issue with it -

When my husband & I were there in December, we sat at the bar. Bartender (Tommy) was great & he was training an apprentice. We really enjoyed talking to them. During dinner, a fly landed and died in my husband’s wine glass. Obviously no one’s fault but Tommy was just going to fish it out. Ew. No. Absolutely not. It was part of a bottle we ordered, so he said he couldn’t comp the whole bottle or give us a new one. Obviously, wasn’t going to ask for that. I said what about a comp glass of something else or port? He said that should be fine but he needs to get management’s okay. No big deal. He leaves for a few minutes & comes back with “that’s absolutely fine!” No biggie.

I thought everything was fine. Dinner finished. We both ordered dessert. Got a glass of port with dessert. Got the bill. $350ish. Tipped $100 even.

Immediately get a text from CC company for the charge (account setting just as a safety measure). Couple days later at home, going back over all my charges & making sure everything is okay. Two separate charges for Bugsy & Meyer, the check charge & tip (which is normal for them to come across separate) but the tip was for $122.75. I KNOW I tipped $100 even. So I talked it over with my husband & decide to call B&M and ask. They were not open then & there was no answering service. Their hours at the time were very limited because of COVID, so I had to wait a few days to call back.

In those few days, I had a thought. How much does a glass of port cost? I looked it up. $21. What’s Vegas tax 8.25%? Those costs together? $22.73. That’s unusually close to $22.75…few days go by & I get ahold of B&M, ask for a manager. Explain the situation. She said she can’t leave the restaurant floor during dinner service. I get that. Give her my number, she said she’d look into it and get back to me. I mean, I don’t necessarily think Tommy upped his tip. Maybe the comp port wasn’t comp? And he had to charge for it, so he paid for it out of the tip? Well then tell us, that’s okay. But don’t lie about it.

She never got back to me. I called back a few days later. And made sure to call about half an hour before they opened. Phone just rang & rang. Called back a few days later, during dinner. “There’s not a manager available right now.” *side eye*

So, long story short, never got it resolved.

If Tommy is behind the bar, you can bet your ass I’m bringing this up!

I didn’t want to go back to B&M yet because I was still miffed at them. But it’s my husband’s birthday, so he gets to choose.

That’s a heck of a story, talk about Tommy two times! Enjoy the meal and I’d quietly bring the issue up to the manager as your husband is being seated, tell them you’re giving them another chance!

This birthday trip sounds amazing! Wish I had Ann's knack for slots selection.

Love, love, love your menagerie! Leaving our pets (and sometime kids) behind is the only part of traveling that leaves me on edge.

Crazy story about the charges at Bugsy and Meyers! I hope Tommy is there...

    Looking forward to following along!

If this ever happens again dispute it with your CC company. This is BS. Me personally would never tip an odd number with change at the end I could see $122.00 or $123.00 But $122.75 never.

We (me, specifically) were running a tad late this morning. Airport parking was really crowded & we had to park on the red side of the garage *shudder* instead of the green. Got stuck behind an airport Karen at Spirit bag drop. She didn’t realize you had to pay for luggage. She was not happy. And of course she was at our gate! Yay!

We took off about 10 minutes late, detoured around a storm cell, & landed at exactly 12:06. Landing was EXTREMELY windy and I was really impressed with how well the pilot handled it. People clapped AND I DIDNT ROLL MY EYES THIS TIME!

Bell picked us up with no issues. Got us to Paris. Checked in immediately. And hustled over to Margaritaville for food. Dan was hangry. Spinach artichoke dip to start. Burgers for Dan & I, chicken tenders for Ann. I started with a Havanas & Bananas then had a Lime In Da Coconut, Rum Runner for Ann, & a marg for Dan.

    Finishing up food now. Headed to O’Sheas for craps next! 7ACED7E1-EAC4-4813-B8B6-38394C09A621.jpeg CD297B9D-FB5B-4FB6-B008-4CF0C44C4701.jpeg 36BB5ED3-7D5A-4B48-8FD0-1C54FA09E1E9.jpeg DF8EA8BD-657D-4DFC-80CE-A30D51BFC024.jpeg C8C9E69B-B887-408E-8CAA-8929BB8D0BEE.jpeg AF92F69C-B53F-4A3F-B5E4-CADAC653BE2F.jpeg 6097A955-98F1-4B1A-93A1-5E185A0076EE.jpeg 2BBDA364-8174-472E-8BA8-28B661071C13.jpeg
