That's an issue at a lot of MGM places, in my opinion. It's not so much the price that concerns me, just the lack of options during the day for real food. It's really one of the things that's drawn me to Aria over a lot of the other MGM properties; by way of comparison, the only restaurants open around noon at Mirage are BLT Burger, California Pizza Kitchen, Carnegie Deli, and the coffee shop, while at Aria, you've got Javier's, Lemongrass, Julian Serrano, Five50, and the coffee shop, plus Todd English Pub and Wolfgang Puck right there in Crystals. I just like the food better.

Just stayed at the Mirage over Easter. We had the one bedroom penthouse suite and really enjoyed it. I am not a High Roller by any means as I play blackjack for $50 a hand and the wife at $25. The mirage has one good double deck game for $25 with S17, this is almost unheard of anymore at that price. They also have a silver strike machine and decent slot choices. I was very happy with the food choices on site with BLT Burger and Carnegie Deli, they also have Cut for a steak house.

Is that game still being dealt? Still at 3:2 with DAS?

Based on comments in another thread, I'm thinking about returning to $25 tables on my next trip... if that table is still there, I may have to make a rare trip to the strip this next time.

I've stayed at the mirage over 15 times and never had a bad experience.there is remodelling going on in the casino for the next few months but it didn't effect my stay.
the pool is great and the location ie close to fashion show mall suits my other half.
my only gripe is that they could do with another bar in the central casino are(old baccarat bar area),but this is changing in the future I believe.

    I'll avoid the snob/slob conflagration.

I will say I hate the direction they've taken the casino and common spaces. I know, I know, I'm an old guy ranting about kids on my lawn, but the tropical hue was great. WTF is it now?

Hahaha...yeah, it is kinda hard to describe the current look. My best description would be "muted psychedelic", or maybe "overcast tropics." They are putting a huge bar in the center of the casino that is supposed to span the length of where the cashier cage was, all the way down the length of the HL slot room.

I was around in Las Vegas when Mirage opened. Back then, it was "whoo-hoo, what a spectacle, what a nice hotel". At that time, I couldn't think of staying there and we stayed next doo at the "poor cousin" Treasure Island.

Now it's just "meh. Nice hotel, but it's "just" a hotel." It does have the dolphin pool and Secret Garden, but other than that, the rooms aren't special, and the hallways are verrrryyyy long. I got assigned the room at the end of the hallway one time I stayed there and told my host that's why I spent less time on the casino floor.

sin... that was the old "whore bar", as we used to call it in the 90s!
That bar used to separate the $5-to-$25 blackjack pit from the carnival-games & higher-limit ($100+) blackjack pit.
Then they gutted it and turned it into HL slots...a sad day that was.

I'm not trying to convince anyone to stay or not stay, I'm not saying it's a hole or it's heaven; frankly, I don't care.

I just don't like the course charted in the public spaces.

This is my biggest problem, along with the prices they think they can charge for their rooms. I found a good deal with them way back in 2007 and stayed there once, liked the room except the bathroom was tiny, they had also just done a remodel. No, 8 years later, they are charging even more and getting dated.

I would actually stay at the MC for location and price over the Mirage. If you aren't being charged, just take them to the Aria, best beds and everything you need in that hotel.

Top card, my man...get ready because I think "whore bar 2.0" is coming back! Lol

This is very true! I can fall asleep within a fraction of a second, after plopping down on Aria's beds! Aria is now my favorite hotel/casino on the strip, but the Mirage still fits the bill when I bring certain people (kids).

Mirage is a nice hotel. Stayed there twice in 2010 and 2013 and both were pleasant stays at their regular rooms. The rooms are remodeled around 2010, so, they're cool, except they're a little bit on the small side and they don't have floor-to-ceiling windows.

Casino has seen better days, it's less happening nowadays, but still the layout and selection is cool. I've avoided blackjack there though, since they started employing 6:5 BJ in low-limit games.

Pool area is one of the strengths of this hotel. And so is its location.

I agree with the person, who said it's better than all CET hotels except Caesar's. You will not regret it.

The only hotels above Mirage IMO (ignoring hotels within hotels) are Wynncore, V/P, Bellagio, Aria, Cosmo, and Caesars, especially if we're talking a Tower King with the bigger bathroom and separate shower. You can make an argument for MB/MGM if you want, but I think those three are all neck and neck and each have their own strengths. They've done a good job of keeping it up to date and "fresh" and the location is great.

I would echo the sentiment of not being in love with their food scene. They don't have much for quick cheap eats, while I don't mind BLT, it's not that great and a little overpriced. The new café is decent. You can keep Carnegie though. I don't see the appeal of paying $20 for a pile of sandwich meat. On the high end Heritage is pretty good and they make great cocktails. Most of the other higher end spots don't do much for me, at least not in comparison to similarly priced offerings elsewhere. Aside from that though the Mirage is solid.

I disagree with the cheap food options now adays. You can go across the street to the Harrahs food market which is decently priced. You also have The Linq across the street now too which has several nicely priced and delicious places to eat like Hash House and Yard House.

If I were to ever go back to MLIFE, which isn't likely, I think the only places I would stay are Aria/Vdara or Mirage. Bellagio isn't my scene and I didn't really like MGM the one time I stayed there. No interest in Circus Circus, Excalibur, Monte Carlo, NYNY or Luxor, and Mandalay's location is awful. Mirage would definitely be my go-to, with the price and location being the deciding factors over Aria.

With that said, I think I'll stick with The Linq, my new home (third straight trip there in July, LOVE it)

I was there for two nights last month for my wife's sales convention. The crowd is pretty trashy overall and there were more kids than I've ever seen there in the past. The casino is also very smokey and dark.

We left there and stayed in Aria Sky Suites for three nights. The second we walked into Aria was literally a breath of fresh air both literally and figuratively.

I've stayed at Mirage about 40 times, comped rooms, occasionally paid. It's fine. Rooms are good, location and pool are great, but the gambling options are pretty weak now. I prefer Wynncore even if I have to pay some for my room. Mirage is definitely better than all CET in my opinion.

I really hope they don't get rid of that DD game. Still the only DD S17 game you can get for $25.

I love armpits and i love Vegas. Mirage is fine, Circus Circus, Caesars, Harrah's is fine, Downtown, off Strip, Travelodge, La Quinta Inn is fine as well. Different strokes for different folks, and if anyone knows about strokes, it's me.
Just have fun because you never know when you'll be back to Vegas again..........and as a stroke survivor...........my armpits don't care where i stay, could be Aria or could be Motel 6, just as long as they have soap, and last i heard, Motel 6 does have soap, and as an added bonus......they also leave the light on to see your armpits better.
