what is your opinion on the pool. Are any if the pools heated? My first 4 days I'm going to stay at Mirage I love their Pool, Then we are going to move over to Luxor for 4 Days. Will I be disappointed in the pool?

the luxor pools leave something still to be desired. if you want amazing pools there are significantly better choices in Vegas

It's like the resort as a whole... not deficient in any way, but not the least bit fancy or impressive. It's "a pool" the same way their (pre-renovation) room is just "a room". It's fine. Coming from the Mirage, you will not be impressed.

You will be disappointed but on the other hand...you will be in Vegas.....not exactly a horrific situation regardless of the somewhat lacking aquatic facilities.

I have heard the Luxor pool sucks, but I don't know...I've never stayed there. I've also heard that Excalibur's pool is surprisingly nice and very underrated, although I've never been there, either...although I have stayed at Excalibur twice.

I totally agree with Gaggles' comment, though -- in Vegas with a crappy pool way beats not being in Vegas.

Excalibur pool is surprisingly nice, considering the property is essentially the lowest tier that MGM has. I spent a few hours there and it was good for my purposes. Nothing fancy, but big-ish area and chairs available

Yep...I've heard the same. Both times we stayed at Excalibur was in December, though, so we never got to check it out. Even though it's the lowest-tier MGM hotel (other than Circus-Circus), we didn't think it was bad at all in an upgraded room. In fact, I liked quite a few things about the place...it's easy to navigate around, we were kinda "big fish in a small pond" when gambling and got EXCELLENT cocktail service (better than at any Vegas casino before or since), the food court is nice (my husband is always hungry, so it's nice for him to be able to grab a quick burger or doughnut when he's hungry and I'm not), etc. The only reason we won't stay there anymore is because they went completely non-smoking in the rooms.

I think Mlife's pools overall are nice. Luxor and Excalibur both have acceptable pools. CET on the other hand, with the exception of Caesar's and Flamingo, has worse pools overall.

Drai's (the Cromwell pool) is nice, too (you can't beat those views!), but it's a club on weekends so I understand why you did not include it.

Yep. And even Flamingo, although looks nice from pictures, is told to become a zoo over the weekends. I'd take Mirage/Luxor/MGM pool with chairs available, any day over a jam packed Flamingo pool.

I thought Luxor's pool complex looked pretty nice. I think they have a gay-day pool party on Sundays...at least they used to.

if you are looking to hang out for the day etc etc I think it is horrible just horibble. It is a concrete jungle with limited shade. I used it for a quick dip a couple of years ago it is not a hangout place like mirage

It's not exactly a hangout place and yes, the gay party is there still on Sundays. I didn't realize it when I booked my cabana last time. Whoops. That was quite interesting but still a very different Vegas experience. You can also buy your way into other mLife properties if you're a guest at a different resort I've come to find out. So, the Mandalay Beach which is a quick tram visit away can be yours for an entry fee of $20 or less if you're not a guest of the property but if you are staying at Luxor.

I like the luxor pool, one of the pools is "VIP" so you have to pay extra for that even though the resort fee covers the pool.... hey, didn't we fight a revolution over things like double taxation??

It's fine. Especially if you rent a cabana - which we always do when we stay there. It's not fancy or as nice as, say, Aria's pool, but no complaints.

I have yet to find a pool that is not the club that rivals the flamingo
