How would you theme your casino?

If you were developing a new casino-resort, how would you theme it?

I'd love to see a London theme, like the Londoner in Macao.

That's a good one. My first choice would be like the Wynn because customers want to feel rich, like they're living a life they don't normally have, and they want to feel coddled and important because in real life we have to do for ourselves and outside our little bubble we're all very unimportant.
But I've never been able to live that type of life anywhere and so I don't really know how or what to put together for it.

A Vegas themed version of NYNY called Viva Las Vegas, with little 'own brand' knock offs of all the other big Vegas hotels. The ultimate destination for the hardcore Vegas aficionado! Go to Wynn, Excalibur, Resorts World, El Cortez and whatever Fontainebleau is called by then without leaving the property! Enter the recursive Viva Las Vegas model inside Viva Las Vegas to be t r a p p e d f o r e v e r

This is an excellent question. Without considering profit, I'm inclined to go with one of two options: 1) an Eastern Block-themed place. As opposed to the NYNY, maybe Moscow landmarks? Atomic/spy theme, great borscht, boutique vodka, security with KGB badges, high limit room replaced with politburo chambers, etc. or 2) Spaceball 1. There had to be a casino on that thing, recreate that.

Wade and I pondered this once while drunk walking from Orleans to In n Out. I don’t recall anything except we were fucking adamant that we would have pulled pork served 24/7.

So I guess I’ll go with…”What is pulled pork themed casino, Alex”

I liked the movie memorabilia in the rooms at PH before the renovation. I’d probably try any do something like that.

The Caesars Empire will retaliate swiftly. By that, I mean a single unarmed security guard will respond within the hour.

    Hmmm.....

How about a haunted house, horror movie theme? The CW could have a Bride of Frankenstein look to them, or wait, Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. Dark and cloudy ceiling, little thunder, little lightning. Oh...and special hot seat promotions where when you win a demonic face appears on your slot and that laugh from the end of Thriller (Vincent Price?) scares the crap out of you. A few creepy special effects like statues that seem to watch you (I think that's a Disney thing) and something like the Conservatory that features a different horror theme every couple of months. Just think of it...Godzilla! Frankenstein's castle. Dracula! Have someone in costume walking around letting the suckers, I mean customers have their picture taken with them. Just think of the crap you could sell in the gift shop!

    Think of Halloween!!!

I’ve repeatedly pitched the notion of a mime-themed resort to those in the industry, but I haven’t heard back from anyone.

Yes, but you're not allowed to bring your own money. You pay upfront for the time you want to be there. The casino owns all the chips and allots them to you by how important you are to its existance. You are asigned a restaurant. If you're unimportant because you don't tip real money while playing with the fake casino chips, you get McDonalds and a twin bed. The floor managers and big tippers get Sinatra's and a corner suite. Your suite is 4500 sq ft.

Blue Collar themed with a $5 pit open 24/7, the dealers wear Carhartt, and restaurants like Old Spaghetti Factory and Cracker Barrel.

I've never really understood why MGM failed to retheme Excalibur as Hogwarts - the Harry Potter Casino Hotel, so that's my pick. Obviously there are licensing issues - but money easily fixes those and it would be an absolute gold mine

I've always loved pirates, so Pirate theme. (R.I.P. Treasure Island Theming)

But I think it would be interesting to theme a casino to an 80s arcade. Neon blacklight carpeting, put some video poker games in old arcade cabinets, and intersperse arcade and pinball games throughout the casino floor.
