Never used an offer that included F&B credit before. Staying at Park MGM March 7-10th with a $20 free play and $50 F&B credit. What is the process for redeeming/using the F&B credit? Does it have to be used all at once? Can we use it at any MGM Properties? Thank you in advance for the help.
Charge to your room. Double check at front desk to ensure it can be used across the MGM Vegas properties. Can't use it on retail
Charge to the room, not one-time use if it's a regular casino offer resort credit, and usually can be used at any MGM outlet that takes express comps or allows billing to the room, but check with MLife desk as there may be a few exceptions depending on your offer.
Thanks for the quick replies. 1 last question then. I have around 40,000 points on my account from using the credit card the past 1-2 years. I won't need to use those points first will I? Planning on saving those points for a future trip if I can.
Nope, which points, express comps etc you choose to use, which sequence, is your choice. What MLife calls resort credit - ask to be certain when checking in. Then charge to room. Be aware that MGM system, in-room TV folio display, won't show the items offset by the $50 resort credit. E.g. first charge a $25 breakfast at Primrose, it simply won't appear on your folio. Or only the gratuity amount will show if you charge tips to your room. If second room charge is $75 dinner, the remaining $25 will be applied, and charge will show on your account as $50. In summary, applied resort credits don't show, only amounts yet to be paid. If you check in with a human and they seem to be very experienced, they may be able to activate your freeplay. Otherwise, a visit to the MLife booth may be required. Given Park MGM strategy encouraging kiosk check-in more than other properties, if you use the kiosk, I'd stop by the MLife booth and check on both resort credit and freeplay. Multiple MGM stays with freeplay and resort credit over past three years, I've had a variety of experiences. Aria made me go to MLife desk to activate f&b and freeplay. A smart check-in representative activated my freeplay at Bellagio. While those aren't precisely as designed, they're not really bad experiences. First time I asked about back-end comps at MLife desk, 1-2 hours before check-out, Bellagio boothling told me no "but you have enough points and express comps to cover your resort fees and spend" "No thanks," I replied. "I'm saving those for a future extravagant meal." When I tried checking out on room TV, balance was $0. Boothling had applied points anyway. I had to go to checkout to remedy, pay and retrieve points. They got it done, points back in my account an hour later. Overall, I've always gotten the feeeplay and resort credit. But I've learned to verify that what I want to use and how its used, is what actually happens.
It can also depend on the particular outlet. If it's physically inside an MGM property, it's usually fine (though I will 100% echo the suggestion that you check, and check again). But some of the places that are affiliated but off-site, like the Park restaurants or the Pub at Crystals, get trickier and sometimes need a host override. Generally speaking, though, the resort credit will usually include any property within the Mlife system.
To piggy back on this, how do you charge something to your room from another mlife property? Say I'm staying at Mandalay Bay and eating at a restaurant in aria, do I just simply say charge to my room xxx at Mandalay Bay?
No problem at all. I would guess the vast majority of the charges are made from other MGM hotels. The bill in most cases actually prints out the name of all hotels and you pick yours. Works the same at all CET hotels too.
Yep, as others noted. Only possible issue... make certain outlets participates in MGM. And being able to charge to room not always same as being able to redeem points or express comps. I was at Nomad, surprised I couldn't pay for a meal with points at Crack Shack. Or another night, Shake Shack. I don't know if you can charge to room..... or if offer f&b would apply, if they permit room charging. Seems like there's always one or two outlets at every resort where diners can't use or earn points... and even that situation is not 100% consistent for charging to room. I was surprised in November when I couldn't earn points at La Cave in Wynn. I had planned on paying, wasn't a hotel guest, so it was a minimal sting. I'm trying to remember where, I recall finishing a lavish meal somewhere, presented my player's card to use points, only to be told "oh, we don't take that here" That Stung!
