How much do you value Southwest Airlines A-List?

I need 2400 more points to keep A-list for the year, really 4800, but SWA is running a double tier point promotion right now. If I buy one "full fare" at $202 and one "wanna get away" at $112, that will make the points.

But I question if A-list is worth the extra $90? I'll admit it's nice sitting in a casino NOT having to worry about checking in.

If it’s for a year that’s 25 cents a day though you are obviously not using it every day. But yeah, 90$ divided by number of times used is probably way cheaper than early bird for sure.

IMHO, it depends on what you want to use it for.

    I use it for:

1)Not having to sit in front of my computer at EXACTLY 24 hours before flight time to check-in, or pay $$$ for early bird
2)There are about 8 flights a day between my location and my preferred destination every day. The luxury of booking the last flight of the day (usually the cheapest) and flying out earlier at NO ADDL. CHARGE

Those make it worthwhile for me. I'm making it on segments this year.

Getting an earlier boarding number is the prime reason.

Wife had it for past two (three) years and it came in handy. Since we have multiple SWA cards that give us 4 of the a1-a15 boarding each year, I would do that most of the time, and then save her a seat in the 2 seat exit row. Since she had a high A boarding, I only had to save it for a few minutes. And because she is A-list , we use the short line at the counter to do the buy up. Yea, we could do it after going through security, but the earlier the better.

Next year - not so easy. We will have 16 of those early boarding things starting in January.

Same day flight change is a good one. Only used that once.

It sounds like its worth it to you, so go for it. To me, meh. I love A List preferred and companion pass. Those levels have real benefits I value. But before I was A list, I never really worried about checking in quickly. The line pass at the ticket desk is nice too, but until recently, I never checked a bag and didn't have much use for it (its nice to have now, though, and that is an A List benefit)

I have the card too, and think the four free upgrades negate a list to some degree, if you fly every week, not so much, but flying solo, most of the time, high b group usually gets me a seat I want.

I've used the free upgrade, once, when I forgot to check in and I was in c group.

If there's an A-List for anything, hell ... even if just to use the restroom somewhere, I want to be on it!

If you're paying for early boarding it's worth it.

I value it a lot when I can check in early enough and beat other people from getting it before me. My value for it goes down the more I have to pay. Seems odd doesn't it?

I got A list after my last flight and still waiting to find out what priority boarding entails. I am sure they will respond one day. EFFE6AFC-DEA8-4FE1-B734-7C288382D502.png

"Priority Boarding", IMHO means the same as "early bird" without having to pay extra for it. You are checked in 36 hours before flight time. Nothing special other than that.

Thanks, I don’t know why they haven’t responded. They are usually pretty fast about that

And if for some reason you don't get the A group, they let you board before the B group.

I don't fly enough to earn A list, but I also have the 4 free upgrades with my credit card. That usually is enough to cover any of those times that I don't get a great boarding position.

It's worth it if you fly a decent amount.
Though I've been a bit annoyed at the SW promotions where they just give it away devaluing it as a benefit...

Main reason its worth it to me, is to be able to get on whatever flight I want that day, as long as seats are available.
You get first on the standby list. Or often the Gate agent will just give me the Boarding pass.

Since I will be one of the Last numbers on the new flight..... A Listers from changed flights,
get to board immed after the A's have gotten on the plane, and Before the B's get on.
I do this often with Vegas flights.

Sometimes I book the last flight of the day which is usually the cheapest.
Then Alist my way onto an earlier, more expensive flight.

And yeah, its nice getting early bird without paying extra for it.... or having to check in at exactly 24 hours.
Theres other perks, but the Free Same day change, is whats worth the most to me.
