Reading all the posts, it seems like many people on this board go to Vegas quite often every year. Which brings the question what is your thought of the right amount of Vegas per year?

Me personally, I like once a month, but I could deal with every other month. But when I start doing the math, it is an expensive hobby I have. While rooms and most food are comped it’s the incidentals, like airfare, rental car, Non-comped food venues, Shopping and of course gambling. It seems the comped trips run a minimum of five grand per trip unless, of course I get lucky. My logical self tells me six times a year is plenty, but my degenerate self tells me 12 times a year is the bare minimum.

Ideally, 10-12 times a year. This might not be the best for ADT maxxing, but it's the best for my overall enjoyment, which is the actual point of all this after all.

    Also, on budgeting:

So, one of the reasons I deliberately low-roll - to include only gambling enough to get very basic comps and just paying out of pocket for anything else I want - is that it's just so much more cost effective. It's no exaggeration to say that I spend a fraction of what you spend per trip, which are also ideally monthly. And I can't say I feel much less enjoyment to when I was spending (including gambling) a lot more. Obviously, this is in the eye of the beholder, your mileage may vary, not everyone's situation is the same, etc. :)

You're saying your logical self says you should spend $30,000/yr on LV while your degenerate self tells you that you should spend $60,000/yr, as the bare minimum, on LV...that's after paying tax on this money. Good for you to be in this predicament. I can't say many others are. And, hopefully, you're spending additional entertainment money on traveling elsewhere and broadening your appreciation of other places in the world.

I'm closer to the $30,000 on gambling, but that includes my locals in Atlantic City on an almost weekly basis. LV for me, from the East coast is only 3 times a year. But, I do get to Europe, I do get on a cruise, and I usually get somewhere else in the US, each year.

4x last year, likely just two this year. Have other expenses coming up, kids will be in college before I know it, need to push more money towards them to help pay. Ideally I'd go 6x a year.

2 times and also hit AC once or twice a year (I don’t go to locals). Love Vegas and thoroughly enjoy gambling, however, I enjoy being married more lol.

Until prices come down, only for special events or family get-togethers.

Yes I do get to many other places too but it seems Vegas is second home versus a vacation. Another thing is I do not go to the local casinos around my home. A long time ago I found the experience under whelming and nothing like Vegas. That when I realized it’s not just the gambling it is the whole experience that I crave, glitz, food, entertainment and simply endless entertainment option along with the gambling.

Everyone is different but for me, I think twice a year is good especially if you are a big spender. I treat it as a Disney trip. Save up for months and then splurge.

Typically two or three times per year. I would probably go more often if my schedule permitted.

I've been going 3-5 times a year since the pandemic and most of those trips were 3+ weeks.

I am pretty much sick of Vegas.

I have one 3 day trip booked this year and I am just about ready to cancel it. Just want to see the final PRB night show schedule before doing so

We like going about 6-7 times a year for 4-5 days though that is a lot from the East Coast (and sometimes our trips are 2-3 days). We are lucky that I have a SW companion pass so Mr. 9th is free and that we can usually squeeze in trips on the way to or fro CA/HI. I know if I lived closer I would go more but seeing as flying to Europe is not that much longer than Vegas (and Caribbean even closer) it’s hard to justify those long(ish) flights more than that.

We have been @ 1 per year the last decade. I would like to add another one. Most I have ever done is 3 in a year. First part of year, I am stuck at my desk. I generally break up the winter/spring with a long weekend away but, that is all I can do. It has been Vegas sometimes but, has morphed more to Florida of late and Atlantis this year. No desire to go to Vegas in the summer months plus we have had the BNB/Wedding thing going on the last few years which are both busy in the summer. Did summer once and that was enough heat! That leaves us with fall and that seems to work for us right now.

I've only been doing 1 or 2 weeklong trips per year for a while now. I use to visit more often back in my younger days and when I had family in Vegas, but I'm beginning to hate the hassles of traveling anywhere by air more and more these days. As I've mentioned many times before, if I lived within a reasonable driving distance to Vegas, I would just hop in my car and go more often.

Although. the way Vegas has reinvented itself into a major pro-sports town isn't helping matters either with all of the inflated prices, etc. I still like Vegas, but the "vibe" just isn't the same as it use to be or maybe I'm just getting old. LOL

We usually go in the spring. Since we only go once a year we stay 7-8 days. Not afraid of flying I just hate the hastle of it so if we go we stay as long as we can to make the flight worthwhile. I would never fly in for a weekend. Now if we happen to win we will look at going again in the early fall. This year our flight was free via points so very possible we will get another trip later in the year.

Ours seem to be creeping up and up. With local gambling going down and down. Next year we'll be doing less as we have other things planned, but this year is sitting pretty at 6, maybe 7. All different shapes, sizes, reasons and a range of rooms/resorts (2 x Aria, 2 x Vdara, 1 MB, 1 Delano). When we lived in the UK it was once a year, 2 at most, because those flights are brutal!

I’m down to 4-5 times per year. I’d go more if my wife would let me!

Let's see, these days it's about 4-5 times as well. Sometimes for Super Bowl, but not this year. Definitely March—used to be for the first weekend of March Madness—this year for the Pac 12 tournament. I have a pass for the entire tourney at T-Mobile. Then maybe Kentucky Derby in May, then a summer trip in August for Saratoga and Del Mar. First week of the NFL season and then Thanksgiving with my sister.

Used to be about 9-10 times a year when I was younger and could drink all day, but my comps aren't that great anymore. And there were years in there with my second wife where we traveled exclusively to Europe and I only got 1-2 trips to Vegas a year. She despised gambling. Nowadays Vegas is really my only vacation spot other than the mountains where I'll go one or two times a year. The thought of having to go to the airport kind of makes me sick to my stomach so glad I live relatively close to the promised land.

I do 12 a year. Once for each MGM monthly offer. Usually once a month, but sometimes I skip a month and do a double length another month to use 2 offers.

I agree with your findings that the "vibe" just isn't the same as it used to be...and the pro-sports teams, higher prices, and heavier crowds coming to town is all part of that. BUT, I think you already named the true reason why you visit less..."mayber I'm just getting old." Yup. And me, too. And I agree with traveling anywhere by plane just starting to turn me off. (Thank goodness I'm only a 50 min drive from the 9 casinos in AC, lol. And being retired, I can visit them any weekday morning when the crowds, or lack of them, are just my style.)
