We were lucky to find a centrally located property on our 1st trip that fit our needs well....not ones to move around a lot & did try a few places based on very low rates until we started getting comped rooms after a couple of trips...

Bally's....1st trip pre-CET / many times since became CET
    Aladdin
    LV Hilton
    Flamingo
    Paris

Not too many places considering we have about 30 trips under our belt....

I used to love the idea of staying at every hotel. So every trip I would try all new ones (My trips are long and used to be frequent.) Once I reached my goal, there were new hotels built, but I had lost interest in the game by then. I am sure I am going to accidentally leave a few off this list. I am also going to list them as the names they were when I stayed. If I list it as multiple names, that means I stayed there when it was each name.

    Mandalay Bay
    The Hotel
    Luxor
    Excalibur
    Tropicana
    San Remo
    New York, New York
    Monte Carlo
    MGM Grand
    MGM Signature Suites
    Aladdin
    Boardwalk
    Aria
    Cosmopolitan
    Aria
    Bellagio
Barbary Coast and Bill's and Cromwell
    Ballys
    Paris
    Caesars
    Flamingo
    Imperial Palace / Quad
    Harrahs
    Venetian
    Palazzo
    Mirage
    Treasure Island
    Casino Royale
    Wynn
    Riviera
    Circus Circus
    Frontier
    Stardust
    Westward Ho (aw)
    Sahara

In chronological order of first visits:

    Palms
    Rio
    Mirage
    Planet Hollywood
    Golden Nugget
    Bellagio
    MGM
    Downtown Grand
    Caesars Palace
    Golden Gate
    Cromwell

I've been inside EVERY single casino on the strip and downtown though. I figure these places come and go all the time so you need make sure to hit 'em while you can because plenty of them will be history in another decade.

Great topic, I've enjoyed reading people's takes on what they liked and why. I am jealous seeing names like Stardust and Desert Inn. I love everything about Vegas and trying out as many hotels as possible is part of the process for me. Comp availability has kept me mostly with mLife but that seems to be drying out and I hear CET is more generous with rooms (which is what I really care about). My goal with each strip property is to gamble there, stay there, dine there (including buffets) and take in a show.

I've been going since 2012, so I'll try to rank them. The tough thing about ranking is that in a few cases I've only stayed in a large suite, so I know if I had been in a regular room I'd feel differently (the Golden Gate being the biggest example). It's also hard to separate the whole vibe of the casino or good memories from the rankings.

The theme of this list is: You were mLife or you were cheap.

    1. Cosmo- Returning in May! I'm a younger guy and love the feel of this place. The rooms probably aren't that much better but I love hanging out on the terrace. 3 stays here.
    2. THEHOTEL @ Mandalay Bay (now Delano, really liked that decor). Just one stay before the remodel.
    3. Delano- One stay here.
    4. Bellagio- Stayed in the Penthouse and a regular room, probably the fanciest hotel room I've ever been in. Two stays.
    5. Aria- This was one of those, "I know you're really fancy but it seems a little too modern and not Vegasy enough" haha One stay.
    6. Caesars Palace- One stay. It's just iconic Vegas (and overpriced Vegas) lol
    7. Mandalay Bay- In one of the large suites on floor 61, so I'm guessing I'm overrating this place, will be in a regular room in April.
    8. Palms- Once.
    9. Mirage- Four stays and probably more coming. Really like it.
    10. MGM- Two stays.
    11. SLS- One stay. Kinda weird place.
    12. New York New York- One stay but returning in April.
    13. Rio- Spacious rooms, a great value play for a group of young guys. 3 stays, I think.
    14. Monte Carlo- One stay.
15 Golden Gate- The suites there are great. One stay.
    16. Downtown Grand- Two stays.
    17. Luxor- I even enjoy the uniqueness of the Pyramid, so I know many would disagree with me. Ah man, like 5 stays here. Love Luxy. Returning in May.
    18. The Plaza- My first Vegas trip, still have fond feelings for it. Two stays.
    19. Golden Nugget- In the old tower, really wasn't all that nice. One stay.
    20. Riviera- Room was very simple but the history of the building made me love getting to stay there a couple weeks before it closed. Two stays.
    21. Excalibur- One stay. Expected awful and it was clean and simple like a budget hotel. Not bad really.
    22. El Cortez (Cabana Suites stay would be closer to 16 though) Two stays including Cabana suites
    23. The D (weird smell)- One stay
    24. Circus Circus (honestly the only one I don't think I'd want to do again)- One stay

Edit: After looking at another person's list, I realize I left the LVH off. I'd probably stick it around 17/18. Rooms were dated.

Anything from number 19 up, I'd be perfectly fine with doing again. It's the top 10 where I get excited about where i'm staying.

I know that looks like 40 stays in 4.5 years. 8 or 9 of these were places I only spent one night in. Most trips are 3-5 days at two different properties.

It's pretty clear from these lists that I'm not the only one who doesn't update my "Trips to Las Vegas" count!

18 total. I guess I would have a difficult time ranking them. There are a couple on the list that wouldn't be my first choice, but I don't think there are any I wouldn't return to. I couldn't even begin to count the number of visits to Rio and Monte Carlo. They were the go-to properties for a while as they were the best comps we were offered.

    Rio (Many times, lost count)
    Caesars (1)
    Mirage (3)
    TI (1)
    Golden Nugget (2)
    Venetian/Palazzo (4)
    Flamingo (3)
    Cromwell (1)
    Bally's (2)
    Paris (3)
    Planet Hollywood (3)
    Bellagio (1)
    MGM (2)
    Signature Suites (1)
Monte Carlo (Many times, lost count)
    New York New York (1)
    Excalibur (1)
    Delano (3)

    Cheers!

Great on you guys who remember dates. No chance I can do that!
First trip was in 99, been going as much ever since but average 2x per year
Rio-(2x)first time rooms were not as beat up and dated like now
MGM (2x) first was for my brothers bachelor weekend, had a 3 bedroom suite
Mirage(1x) last year for opening round of march madness. Loved it
Luxor (2x) mostly cause of the rate, all times when they had the cool old school pyramid theme interior
Madalay Bay(X1) suite last summer love the property and dining, but to far from rest of strip for me
Paris(X1) nice red room, but just don't love Paris casino
Caesars(x1) nice rooms but never loved tables there
Treasure island(x2) love the pillows and gillies bar but tables are a suck for me
Palazzo(X1) right when it opened got cheap rate, rooms are fantastic. Too expensive though so never been back.
Monte Carlo (can't remember so many times 8+) love tables here. Great location, rooms meh. Sad that it's getting a reboot and hope rates stay similar although not confident
Aria(at least 6+) my favorite by far resort in Vegas. Dining sports book Jean Philippe, all great!
Green valley ranch(x1) not bad but really no reason to go outside of being there for a conference.
More places then I thought but missing quite a few considering how many other choices out there! Fun excercise for sure

I started going about 11 years ago. Here's my summary in no particular order:

Sahara - cheap stay, good VP, low limit tables, and House of Lords was great, but too far from main action of the Strip for my preference. Would have only stayed again if traveling with my uncle because it was his favorite hotel and the monorail makes it easy enough for me to get to the high energy I like. Pool was fine. Wouldn't visit the buffet again if it was still around.

Excalibur - Cheap room and they offered me comp rooms with low-roller play when I used to play there (they had 9/6 DDB quarters but no more). Pool was surprisingly decent for such a cheap hotel. Kind of dirty casino vibe but I actually kind of liked it for some reason. Upgraded rooms were solid for the price, old rooms sucked. Buffet also sucks. Steak house was fine.

Treasure Island - Casino kind of sucked. Just never got a great vibe there. Not great pay tables and not really many cheap tables at the time. Room and pool were both nice and price wasn't terrible. Location is also a decent place for me, though I prefer a little farther south. Buffet was a good value.

Imperial Palace - just fine for a guys' trip with my buddy both on a low budget. Room was what you'd expect for next to nothing in a perfect location on the Strip. Pool was awful so we paid $10 each to get into the Caesars pool at the time. Casino was shitty but the whole place was really just a cheap place to sleep in a great location. We didn't spend almost any time there.

Flamingo - a step up from IP, obviously (or maybe two steps) but still a very dated, lower end feel. Room was mediocre at best and bathroom sucked. Didn't see anything decent in the casino and didn't like the feel overall. The pool looked fine but had a horrible smell near the only chairs we could find. Not my kinda place.

Mirage - The go-to hotel for me and my wife. Staying there for our third time total on our trip in two months. Can usually get a good deal on the room if you wait for it and they're nice rooms. Pool is great. Buffet is decent. Sushi lounge is awesome for a snack. VP pay tables no good and regular tables expensive on the weekends but that's what you get with a nicer hotel. Will continue to stay here on future trips, most likely.

    Caesars
    - stayed in Octavius tower when it was brand new for 10 days on our wedding/honeymoon trip. If it was priced anywhere near Mirage, we'd stay there again. Best room we've had in Vegas, hands down. Love the pool areas and location can't be beat. VP pay tables suck and regular tables are high mins but it's walking distance to everything (for us, anyways).
