    Hi,
I'm leaving Sunday to go to Vegas and I'm trying to decide how many credit cards to take with me. I am bringing the card I used to hold my room and purchase Clint Holmes tickets. I am also bringing a debit card. I was thinking of bringing at least one extra credit card. I'm not worried about getting into trouble taking out too much money on the cards, I'll use my debit card since my bank waives all fees. I was just wondering if for security reasons I should limit the amount of cards I carry. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Pleasure trip, one credit, one debit. Business trip, same but add the corporate card.

Fortunately I can use the ATMs at the airport and rental center without fee. That's where I'll fill up with cash for the trip.

I'm not too concerned about having them ripped. All hold me totally harmless as long as I promptly report.

In case of loss of cards, WF will give me a temporary debit card to use until the new one is made and sent.

I usually take two credit cards, plus my debit card. I have one for our home use and one for business charges. I usually only use one, but it's nice to have a backup. I have two wallets, one with all the cards and one that goes with me on the town and in the casino. That one usually just has my daily cash and one credit card, plus my ID. I worry about it getting stolen, so I try to keep as little as possible on me when I'm among the masses. The other stays in the room safe.

I bring my gambling cash with me and avoid using the debit card or ATM. I use the envelope system, so only that day's (or partial day's) cash goes in my wallet and the rest goes in the room safe.

We travel with 2 each of different cards. That came in very handy when I had my wallet picked in Dallas at Jerry World. We called and canceled my two cards that were in my wallet, but wife had two different cards that we used for the remainder of the trip.

TSA at the airport was not awful traveling back home w/o an ID. Maybe another 30 minutes longer for me to get through compared to my wife.

I usually take 2-3 credit cards and my debit card.

Not too long ago I thought I lost my wallet in Vegas, found it in the dirty laundry. Ever since I've packed my Passport in my luggage. Since we typically do curb-side check in, I should realize I don't have my wallet while my luggage is still with me.

Same with me... I spent a number of years weeding our "armada" of cards down to one and now have a credit limit large enough to handle any of our needs or wants. It's a GOOD feeling!

I take a debit card and a credit card. My husband takes a different debit card and different credit card. As in Joe's situation, if one of us is separated from our cards, the other has us covered. I also photocopy (fronts & backs) of everything in our wallets and leave the copy in the safe. Includes copies of IDs, insurance cards (health & auto), etc. This way we know all card #s and phone #s.

I take my debit card and 2 credit cards. The second credit card is a backup in case the company flags my main card for fraud. Despite calling to tell them I'm traveling they lock it up on about half my trips.

I don't make any changes to the contents of my wallet for vacations. There might be a card that I would prefer to use but, they're all in my wallet just the same as always.

I should say that I do remove stuff that I don't need in Vegas. Costco card, loyalty cards. That kind of stuff. And my smaller trip wallet gave up the ghost so I need a new one.

Last trip I took 3 CC & 2 debit (2 different accts). However I don't carry them all together. Part are in my billfold in my purse. Some are in the carry on bag (not likely both would be stolen at once). And one is zipped inside of make-up bag in my suitcase.

My issue is I am a (normally) a solo traveler who is always diabetic. If I lost everything how would I eat or replace meds etc without money? I also carry my passport card in the carry on also so I have another photo ID (can't use for flying out of the US, however appears you can use for flying within the US as a valid gov't ID).

actually left a couple other cards at home. To be honest I would have only taken two except I needed the American Express for the rental insurance package that is included with the insurance package I signed up for with AmEx.

Just whatever card I had to use to book the resort, which then goes in the safe for the duration of the trip. I'm cash on the barrel for everything else.

I take my debit card, and 2 CC's. I leave 1 CC in the safe "just in case". Before I got a nicer limit, I had to have 2 cards since I had a pretty low limit, and the hotel hold almost maxed 1 of them out normally. Thank goodness my credit is better now.

Does anyone here use credit cards to accumulate points/miles? If you do, then you might have one credit card for food/travel purchases and another 1-2 credit cards for other types of purchases.

I don't get the trend to use debit cards. They don't earn as much (if anything at all) and security-wise, they aren't as safe to use.

Also, if you can, pay your balances each month in full.

I and most people I know use the debit card to replace checks. I've maybe written 1-2 paper checks in the past year. I use the debit card for everyday purchases.

I would bring 2 credit cards just because of the internal security detection they do. You never know when you're going to trip something that causes a card to get rejected and I'd want to have a backup. But I would leave the rest at home.

I have a Bank of America debit card; they allow you to set specific travel alerts in advance, and even though I had one in place, I still got rejected at a casino ATM on my last trip and had to call them. I call and the rep tries to tell me maybe it's because the ATM was out of money or I exceeded its limit. I called this number in the fraud detection department because you sent me a friggin' fraud alert email, darlin'.
