Not with Disneyland-style cars, but light-rail not just heavy-rail connections between airports and city centers work all over the place.

Use it every time we stay, cheap, easy and basically pretty convenient to see the whole strip. If you need to get from say MGM to Caesars it's simple to get off, take a stroll through a casino (maybe grab a drink, quick gamble etc) then cross the road.....not too tricky and adds to the fun and number of casinos you can visit. It's a part of our trip as well as a relatively convenient way of getting around. Use Bogof from MyVegas and it's cheap.....

But ain't get it's not for everyone, works for us though.

Two biggest problems for me are that they bury the stops in the bowels of the casinos (MGM/Ballys) and if you are staying/heading to Cosmo for instance, the location is terribly inconvenient. Yes great if you're at either extreme but if you're at Paris/Flamingo it's unneccessary since you're already central and just easier to walk.

Monotonous-rail. I know all of high-speed engineers are not in Las Vegas, but how about a think on a monorail thru middle of the LVBLVD.

    Who is they?

The monorail is a private not for profit. So they need the money to do that plan first. Who pays?

Once you resolve that, then you can jump into the politics and fight the special interests.

Luggage is the least of their worries. If you can get the thing build, you can resolve that easily.

But you can't get it built

Considering where the rail runs they don't have much of a choice.

We may have to agree to disagree on that one. :)

I would envision it being very similar to what they now have in Chicago at both airports, El stations. It would be awkward with a family of five and steamer trunks, but with a carry-on roller bag or even a modest-size check-in bag, it's very easy. I've done both Midway and O'Hare several times over the past few years. It's now an easy and inexpensive trip from either airport to downtown.

So you mean all new cars so it can be done, right? No way the cars now have enough room for people and luggage. People would be tripping all over the place.

If it was truly needed it would be in place. That diehards on chat boards bitch to high heaven about various things -- that might actually even make sense -- doesn't move the needle on Vegas unless the Vegas $$$ interests want the needle moved.
