I’ve sometimes heard the Wynn app referred to as a “gambling simulator”. After the latest update, I can’t see how it is in any sense a “simulator”, unless you are just spinning for amusement. How is it, under any common sense meaning, any different than actual gambling in a casino?

All of the following are true:
    - One can only gain rewards by spending significant amount of cash buying chips.
    - One can only gain rewards by actually gambling these chips (running them through a slot machine), with rewards proportionate to how much one gambles.
    - The prices of rewards are tied to their actual cash value on the open market.

Given this, why shouldn’t this app need to be licensed and regulated in the same way as any real-money online casino?

It's the same thing with Playtika (CET) and Playstudios (mLife). I'm sure that they have a way around it or they wouldn't have been in business that long. I really don't care "how" so I haven't pursued the answer.

If you really want the answer, you would be best speaking to the vendors of the Wynn, Playtika, or Playstudios apps.

I’m assuming it has something to do with a person not “having” to spend money to receive rewards. The spending is optional. At least it used to be on the Wynn app. Not so sure anymore.

Right, but spending is no longer optional to receive rewards. That was the point of my post.

That also seems to make it much different than MyVegas, where spending definitely is still optional. Even when a company runs a sweepstakes, they need to provide an option where you can enter the sweepstakes without purchasing a product. It really seems like Wynn has crossed a line here into pure gambling.

I was having this same discussion with someone earlier today. I am expecting something that can be redeemed with no spend such as a two-fer one coupon etc. They probably don't have to offer much, but just need to offer something. Again, as I said in the other posts, it's stupid stuff like this that gets them in trouble.

If you are in my boat...I will need to spend $105...$100 plus a piggy bank. Yes it is a no brainer for 4 nights in a beautiful place but at the rate of the change who is to say reservations will not be cancelled. If they can change terms at any time can they cancel reservations even though now you are absolutely paying something for them? It would really stink to fly in an have no room. I cannot go until June. Need to decide in the next 15 days.

All these people Paying to get to level 3 is exactly what they want..And I refuse to give this company money. (the only good reason to do so would be if you would be booking yours rooms instantly so they can not screw you over again.. and even then.. do you want to support that?)
When the first 90 day period of the the VIP program came close to an end many people paid to get to level 2. They did so with the mindset of not booking anything until later in the year but buying level 2 now (while halfway there is cheaper then letting it reset to zero and since you got more VIP points at level 2 then you would if it reset, even if you had to "top it off" again before your trip it would likely only be a small amount.

That was until they drastically changed it with out any notice. I believe what they have done is completely unethical.
I am not even sure what they did was legal but I am obviously not a lawyer and likely saying this more out of frustration..
If I was buying coins only then yes they could say I bought in game currency to play this "fake money" game. BUT since part of the advertised package is VIP points and the only purpose that I see of the VIP level is to redeem real life rewards then it would think it would border on illegal.

In all the other games the "VIP/Loyalty/randomnamegiven", also provides in game benefits such as higher timed claim bonuses or multipliers for the coins earned on daily spins. With Wynn, you are buying an item with the sole purpose to allow you to redeem Real life products.

I'm sure they have it in the terms that they can do whatever they want. They could discontinue the whole thing with zero notice, and I don't think we could do a thing. Which, given this most recent change, I think it's clear they bit off more than they could chew, don't want to be in this business anymore, and figure they'll just take everyones' money to get to level 3, and then keep raising it until nobody gives them money anymore, then pull the plug. So I'm not going to give them any money (I was about to last month, then I decided I should wait for one more cycle in case they continued devaluing things. I didn't expect it to be this blatant and this soon, though!)

Just funny that they even bother giving you gems for giving them money - not like I need the gems, I've been hovering around 4m for ages. It'd honestly be less evil if they just said "this is a subscription service. Pay $200 up-front, and a bit every month to keep it active, and we'll let you use gems. That way at least they'd be being honest about what they're actually selling. Of course, that would only have worked if they'd done it up-front - kinda too late now, trust has been lost.

Difference is, it was and still is optional to spend money on it, to play. Earning and redeeming rewards is an "optional" part of the game where one is not under any obligation or forced to participate in.

It's an app/game. You're supposed to play for fun, just like any other game. However, it does provide an option for you to pay to enhance your experience, and in addition the ability to earn and redeem rewards. You're not forced to pay for anything. And if you do feel forced, you're not paying for the rooms or buffet, but rather paying for the coins/multipliers which you agreed to when purchasing it, which may or may not lead to the rewards. The rooms/buffets are just an added bonus to the game itself. My .02.

By definition it is a free app in which you can upgrade for stuff by cash - since you are not playijg to win money it is by appstore regulations nothing other than a game with options to improve your play for money.

Its not gambling because you can't win anything.

The rewards are for playing rather than based on game outcome, and the coin purchase is optional.
