Inquiring minds (mine) would like to know if anyone has recently stayed in the Studio (old style) room at the Flamingo. I have included a photo below. The rooms comped for 4 days with a king bed (just me and my gf) or I have a choice of the "newer" Studio but it only has 2 double which isnt that appealing either.

Any opinions would be appreciated.

I've seen that option on the website many times, but I've never seen or heard of a newer studio. Is that the same room pictured above but renovated, and are there photos/videos of it anywhere?

This was my reply to a previous thread about rooms at Flamingo.

We had a similar experience earlier this month. Me and another guy in our group had both booked Studio King rooms and the 2 were different like night and day. Mine was on the 8th floor with a view of the pools and the bed and furniture were newish. There was only 1 flat screen TV in the living area of the room though.

His room, I believe, was on the 11th floor with a view of Ballys. The bed looked like it had way to many people sleeping on it during it's lifetime and the furniture was old and worn. I don't know if there were 2 TVs in this room though.

I liked the extra space in the room and am willing to spend a little more over a basic room to stay in those again... But only if the furniture doesn't look like it came out of a run down motel in the middle of Detroit.
Sorry, neither of us got any pictures of the room, but that one in the first post looks similiar to his room. Bed was lower to the ground, but his sitting area furniture was just trash compared to those in that picture.

The beds in the second picture looked more like the one I had in my room though.

Pretty much, I think it's a crap shoot on those room. Some are updated and others, well, you just go back to the front desk and ask for another room.

If you want a good idea of a studio room, just imagine 2 normal hotel rooms put together, but instead of an extra bed/bathroom, it is just living area with a table and couch. I had one over Halloween for family/overflow and it worked out great for what it is. I have never stayed in one that had that decorative "arch" dividing the 2 rooms, it was just open between the rooms. The rooms are aged and have a good deal of "wear and tear" so if you are looking for a "pristine" room, this isn't for you. If your looking for an affordable, larger room on the strip, this is a good option.
