Well, I was never singled out by family members, acquaintances, law enforcement officers, or strangers and called 'smart'.

Once I sobered up from my previous trip that ended last TUE, I browsed the calendar and thought the most reasonable and rational next trek should come in earlier July.

There is an opportunity to visit me pops out in the Black Hills of South Dakota in mid-June (the lazy s.o.b. won't come visit me even though he's been retired for twenty five years...don't ask). That gives me the opportunity to get a car and drive the four-ish hours to Colorado and hang with my people in Fort Collins....home of the MIGHTY Colorado State Rams.

Tears just drenched my wireless keypad, here.

Anywho, I'll need to be back home on a certain date and I'll need ample time in Colorado to visit / drink with my amigos.

How dumb would you have to be to take a flight to Vegas for a fifteen/sixteen hour bender in Las Vegas (from Denver)?

The flight would get in around 11:30 AM PST, but I'd have to leave for back east at 5:30 AM the following morn. I wouldn't get a room and I'd just stay up.

I'd be there for a week only two and a half weeks later, but I'm so close if I'm in CO and it just doesn't seem logical NOT to go,

I need voices of reason to help me through this trying time.

Whether or not you are that 'voice of reason' will really depend on your screen name. I'm familiar with who is and who isn't a complete animal on here.

    Thank you! XO

I think that’s the kind of idea that sounds great in theory. However, about 2 AM, when you are drunk and dog tired, and your flight back is still a few hours away, you will probably be wondering what you were thinking! As far as being the voice of reason, I’m a CPA, and you don’t get more of a voice of reason (killjoy) than that!

This is one of those things that sounds good on paper, but once the execution comes, you’re full of regret. Kind of like when I decide to spend more than six hours with my passive aggressive Jewish Mom.

I think you’re setting yourself up for failure, I mean, if you get a room...maybe...but what if you have a bad tuna sandwich from the gas station, and spend twelve hours peeing out of your rectum? Do you really want to be sitting naked on the ElCo public restroom toilet? Or what if the woman of your dreams shows up, claims she has two hours to live, and her deathbed wish is for you to take her to your room within the next ten minutes? These things happen, T.

Book a room, and you’ll have my blessing.

If you have a itch that needs to be scratched (gambling, booze, hoochie mamas, blunts or all of the above), I think I would do it. But I agree with @Courtney - get a room. Maybe you can use an offer for Freeplay & resort credit.

The trip 2 1/2 weeks later is a non factor for me. Take the opportunities when they come.

So are you turning in the car in Colorado or driving back to SD for the 4ish hour drive to take a flight? Because that would be pretty dumb. If you are flying straight back with no driving you have my blessing to stay up all night. I do it all the time on my first stretch back of working. Sometimes I am up for 30+ hours. Of course it doesn't involve the forbidden weed, gummies, and alcohol. But I still feel it.

You're assuming the airline won't move your flight times around too. They are notorious for that lately.

If I was that close to Vegas I'd do it all the time, no question.

Not sure of your age but I’m thinking your over 30. If you were under 30 I’d think you could pull it off and not jeopardize the following trip.
Not to say older degenerate’s can’t do it, hell I know a few. But really they’re slobbering drunks with no real social value at all.
We all know your better than that. I guess. Even though we have never meet & I only know you through a internet message board.
Ah, fuck do what you want. :)

I can't believe you're even asking this question. For ten hours or less in Vegas I'd probably struggle with the decision. For fifteen hours? I'm in no questions asked.

I fully support this. My best guess is you're in your late 30s, and you have the stamina of a bull for staying up and drinking that's up there with a 20 year old. So why the F not!?

I'll be the one to say what a few (maybe) others may be thinking, but if that old SOB hasn't visited you in 25 years, fuck him, Fly to Denver, go see your bros at CSU, spend the time you were going to spend in S.D. being berated by PoPs in Vegas. I applied, and was accepted, to CSU back in the day, so drink one for me.

Wow....these early reply’s to your 18 hour challenge are disappointing and frankly a little embarrassing, do they not know who you are?

I think all of you doubters need to watch a short motivational clip and remember who you talking about.

    Ohhh Bluto were afraid!!!!

I once did a several-hour turnaround. I also did a run up getting there about 10p and leaving at 8 the next morning, but did get a room at GN. ;)

What do you have to be back home for? If it’s important work stuff, maybe pass. If it’s the plumber- who cares if you’re still drunk the next day!

It can be done for sure. I would only do it if there was a single, specific goal in mind, like, 14 hours of pai gow poker, some meal you didn’t get, 12 hours at Frankie’s, or to see a specific band, something like that.

    Good luck!
