How do you prep for Vegas? Workout, diet, etc? I usually get serious at the 2 week mark before the trip. Exercise at least 3 times/week, eat a lot of egg whites, reduce or eliminate alcohol, etc. Do you have a similar prep strategy?

I like to lose some weight if I can. Prob aim for around 7 pounds. I'll put on a pound a day on a Vegas trip, or indeed any trip to the States :)

Drink lots of water cause my liver takes a beating while I am there

Moisturize! I have bad dry skin to begin with but flying plus the dry air makes me absolutely miserable sometimes in Vegas so about 2 weeks before I make sure I extra moisturize.

Lots of lotion so I'm in perfect skin condition when I leave. The day I leave I make sure I have a nice layer of protection so I don't dry out on the way. Continuing while I'm there. Lots of water and pedialyte also so I don't dehydrate.

No difference in workout or diet but was talking to hubby that this trip I wanted to start each day with an hour walk before breakfast. We usually walk so much while in Vegas but over eat and over drink I don't want to come home with too much extra weight so I think I want a daily wal in the morning before indulging

Ramp up the diet for sure. Doing a combo of Atkins and that intermittent crap where you mini fast. Also ramp up the exercise. Doesn't do much but at least I maintain & don't gain. Also try to cut back pn the drinking alcohol pre-trip.

  • Summer reboot!
I have s stack of blackjack flash cards that I go through to work in my decision making and gradually up my alcohol intake adding bloody Mary's before work. Finally I have a series of football tackling dummies I put in the hallway in the house to work on avoiding people on the streets.

Seriously before most trips I eat a little healthier and more home cooked meals and spend a little more time on treadmill.

Put stuff in a suitcase, grab the golf clubs, put it all in the Honda, drive. My pre-Vegas routine.

Along with the above, I hydrate with water and Gatorade G2... Golfing and drinking are great but you need to be prepared for it!

  • Golf Trip
My training is relatively light.

I prepare myself for the out-of-service escalators at the footbridges by walking up and down the stairs at home.

I also get in shape to dodge timeshare hawks.
I dress my dog in a polo shirt and visor, give her some pamphlets, and then I avoid her as I walk around the house!
"Woof" translates to "So, where ya from?"

And I long-haul myself to work!

I'm confused too. Why would someone only care about their health before going to Vegas.

I can understand the health point you made.

Prepping before Vegas might be other things for people. I have my own business so to get ready to leave on any trip I have to be sure I've done some work ahead of time. Make sure people know in advance I won't be around. This prep takes me a couple weeks sometimes.

Transfer funds from the serious account to the liquid account. Check the forecast and pack accordingly.

Diet & Exercise: is it safe to assume that if you indeed ramp up the approach to diet and exercise pre-Vegas, that you do the same upon return? Is this a 'post Vegas' ritual as well? Just askin'
