I was a little upset that Gallant wasn't available when the Flames fired Hartley and/or the Flames didn't keep Hartley for one more year. Gulatzan is an adequate coach but he isn't a great coach. He could be someday if he commits to self improvement, but he isn't the coach to lead the Flames to reach their potential right now. I honestly believe that the Flames could easily be the top in the Pacific with a better coach. A few players are under performing for Glue Gun. It takes him too long in the year to get his team to buy into what he's selling and when they do they burn themselves out trying to catch up and/or they quickly fall back to their lackadaisical ways.

Now, Gallant. He's a great coach. The only teams that don't want him already have somebody great. What Gallant is doing with VGK is simply amazing. I can't look at their roster and honestly tell myself that they are a top 5 team in the league. I didn't think they would be worst in the league as the expansion teams would typically be, but I was certain they would miss the playoffs and by this time of year they would already be talking about trading away rentals at the deadline. Gallant deserves a tonne of recognition for how he has got the players to gel and play better than expected.

Watching a bit of the Oilers-Knights game and see a pretty healthy number of Oilers fans at the game. Noticed the same thing during the Leafs game. I had a feeling that the games against Canadian teams were going to draw a number of fans for the visitors especially the teams from western Canada. Be interesting to see how well Habs fans travel to Vegas next month.

There should be a lot of Flames fans down there on February 21.

More Knights, but traveling teams definitely represent. You cannot beat the energy of the Arena. From the moment the puck drops to the final seconds it's non-stop high energy from the team and the fans. The away team crowd is usually rowdy to begin and grows quiet as the game plays out. I've seen numerous people won over by our Knights. I love seeing folks wearing away attire at the VGK merch booths.

The crowd at Fan Fest yesterday was unreal. There is no denying that Vegas was ready for hockey. Watching the city embrace the Knights and seeing the team thrive has been a blast. Even practice at City National is Standing Room Only.

Glad to see the city has embraced the team. I'm sure it helps a lot that the team has shown a lot of early success. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that Vegas was finally recognized as a major league city by one of the 4 big sports.

Very impressive win last night in Tampa. Now they are only 2 points back with a game in hand on the Lightning for first overall. Unreal.

Good for them but they did get a sweet deal for a new expansion team unlike previous teams.

Seattle will get the same deal, and they won't have nearly as much success.

I was listening to the Calgary Sports radio station this morning and one of the guys said that back in October, everybody thought that Vegas would be doing about as good as Edmonton is now and Edmonton would be doing as good as Vegas is now. Well, I have to think the same will not hold true for Seattle. Seattle will still do better than the Oilers though. The Oilers were/are overrated. and last year's run was a fluke.

As for the Golden Knights. They've shown a few chinks in their armor lately and I'm not so sure they'll make it out of the 1st round. They are probably going to play Anaheim and the Ducks seem to step it up at this time of year. Nonetheless, it was a great year. What a story.

The Ducks are always loaded with veteran guys who know how to pace themselves. Also, home ice means nothing in the playoffs.

They're so good it's giving me a real cultural dilemma. Not that I care about hockey, but, genetically I'm a lifelong Canadien supporter. But, my heart belongs to Vegas and now they have a kickass team. This is a real problem. I can't even confess it to my priest because he's French Canadian too.
