Do all the strip hotels have security checking room keys before you get on the elevators or is that only in the higher end ones.
I have stayed at vdara and elara and cosmo and there always has been.
But what about your Excalibur, ph, paris, kinda places

thanks

The places I'm staying at next week definitely don't. Not sure if I've stayed at a hotel that did.

I've never seen any kind of security at MB by the elevators. Honestly, I can't recall seeing security anywhere except maybe on a Friday or Saturday when the clubs ramp up and that was by valet. Either they hide well or they don't exist. Random security walking through being the exception.

Most don't have it and none that I know of have security cameras in the hallways either.

Gold coast has them at night. Orleans has them all the time.

Bellagio and Aria have them all the time. You must show your key to enter the elevator bank lobby. I don't recall them being that vigilant at any of the other MGM properties I have stayed at.

Excalibur did at one point and so did Luxor, but not in recent years that I recall. The Linq doesn't have it, either and Rio didn't. Can't remember if Mirage did or not.

  • It's tiiiime
  • Let's Strip!
Rio used to have cams looking at the elevator bank.....trust me on that one ;)
Harrahs at times has them looking at room keys, but after the first night or two they just nod and i walk on .

Just to add... they look for a room key for that resort. They do not check to insure it is a valid key.

I've never seen it at NYNY. I wish they would, I had a guy panhandle me on the 22nd floor a few years ago.

Bellagio has it.
I've not seen it at NYNY, or MGM Grand.
Mandalay Bay doesn't have it, but I did see it there one evening when they hosted the Latin Music Awards. The entire resort was packed with people just hanging out trying to get a glimpse of me... I mean their favorite celebrity.

I would not eliminate a hotel, because they do not check keys at the elevator. That can create a false sense of security.
Don't let your guard down. Its very easy to get a key card. Vegas Strip and downtown in general is safe. But always pull your room door closed; double bolt before going to bed.
Be aware in the hallways, not just las vegas, but in any city.

Well that just goes to show you how alarmingly low rent those Vegas resorts are. The Seminole Hard Rock Tampa (the Cromwell of I-4) maintains a security presence in front of the elevators (checking keys)...the high roller areas...the entrance to the casino....throughout the garages...meandering the gaming floor. We've spared no expense to make our guests, and potential miscreants, feel suspect at all times.;)

I don't know that I've ever seen one at the places we've stayed other than The Venetian (if I recall correctly there is a seated security presence at a desk across from the elevators) - but I don't believe the attendant is there twenty-four hours.
