It's been a few years since I've been in Vegas. The resort fees (pain) make the prices alot higher! The best deal I've found is the 4 Queens thru Priceline. Any other suggestions or Ideas.? I'll be there for 5 nights the end of March (solo). I'm looking forward to blackjack, Prime rib at Market Street and early morning coffee on Fremont street. I welcome any suggestions. Thanks!
If you’re looking to avoid resort fees downtown, Four Queens and Hotel Apache (at Binion’s) are your best bet.
Most everything downtown is at a decent price point. I am downtown for 7 nights on the same weekend that you are. I am hotel hopping. I have free rooms all over the place. If I were paying, 4Q would be just fine for me. It has plenty to offer for a downtowner and everything else is within walking distance.
I recently booked the Four Queens off their website for two nights (327 & 3/28) for $79 & $50 plus tax – no resort fee.
Just did some checking, even the new fancy Circa came up at $119. Over at the D - down in the $30 range.
If you get a good rate without RFs, that's great. I wouldn't eliminate a hotel just because they do. Since Vegas started RFs, I've always compared the full rate to others with. Many times you won't find much difference if any. Maybe lower.
I do the same. Look at the total cost per night with RF and taxes and then compare. The cost of staying Downtown used to be a drawing point for me but since most of the hotels added the Resort Fees I have been staying on Strip. It also helps that I get offers from Strip properties so I have been less inclined to pay more and stay Downtown.
You probably know this however BOYD props waive the resort fee on all comped nights no matter what tier you are. I started giving them a little more play in recent years. I aint no high roller, mostly penny/nickel/quarter slots, no huge investments but have earned weekday and weekend comps downtown quite easily. So a free room is truly a free room.
