I've only been to the Toledo casino a few times cause my parents live in Maumee.

How do Toledo and Columbus compare to each other? Are they pretty similar?

Toledo had AWFUL VP offerings at first, but I heard they're better now. Their BJ rules leave a lot to be desired as well. I only play there out of necessity, I'd much rather just go to the MGM Grand Detroit.

The atmosphere at Toledo seems pretty "sterile" to me. Not much of a vibe either way. The casino is nice, but sometimes I feel like I'm gambling in a Sam's Club or something cause it's so open and light.

I thought I would resurrect this thread to tell about my recent visit to the Hollywood in Columbus. I actually live about 20 minutes away from this place but have never been there. For me gambling should be part of a trip, and not just a drive across town. I had an old gambling buddy come into town and he wanted to go so we decided to hit it with some other friends. The plan was to play and also get the seafood buffet.

We did this on Good Friday, if that made any difference. I thought the place was pretty nice inside. It was not that crowded.

The buffet was so-so. You got a whole lobster as part of the buffet but overall I thought the selection and food quality was nothing great. It was $31 and I am not sure if it was worth that price.

We wanted to play blackjack. Every table was $15 minimum and full. In the four hours we were there it was impossible to get a spot. That was a huge disappointment. 3 Card Poker was also $15, which for me is too much to play 3 Card Poker. That could work out to $45 a round and I don't like my carnival games that expensive. Those tables had openings.

So we ended up playing slots. Slots seemed okay, we hit some decent amounts but some machines would pay nothing. Not a single cherry for 20 spins or so.

Cocktail service was non-existent. I am not exaggerating. The only waitress I ever saw was actually leaving the place. They had stands set up to buy beer and small bottles of booze. I went to one and wanted to get a beer for myself and my friend. They would only sell me one bottle of beer. This is the dumbest thing I've ever seen in a casino. They were carding people on the way in so I'm not sure why they had this rule.

I didn't seen any unsavory characters in the place. The OH bar had a band start up as we were leaving. It was way too loud for the place if you ask me. Maybe I am just too old?

In any case I was very unimpressed. I definitely won't be back.

They have this weird rule where they will not sell you more than one drink at a time. I have ordered two and had to have my GF come to the bar to get hers. This also applies to double shots, I have heard them deny doubles at the bar citing this policy.

The layout is exactly the same, and they even have about the same machines and tables. Columbus is like a slightly larger version of Toledo, with a lot more people in it. Only way I can put it in words. Otherwise they're almost like cookie cutter identical :)
