    My Trip Report

My adventure begins flying out of the Tundra and heading to New Orleans for 5 fun filled days....(Then I turn back into a Mermaid and unfortunately don't have Daryl Hannah's legs for days while I'm human). My flight leaves Syracuse, NY at 6:25 AM on 9/27 with a connection at Reagan. I only have 35 minutes between landing and departure, so please let my first flight not be delayed. I have no contingency plans if that should happen to get to NOLA. I'm set to arrive at 10:20AM. I'm still trying to figure out how to get to my hotel from the airport. Uber is quoting me $35-$40 each way and to me, that's way overpriced. I'm playing it by ear if I can't find reasonably priced car service. Hoping I can find a non reservation shuttle service if not. Las Vegas sure spoils us. I always have a limo driver waiting with a cold drink to whisk me off to my hotel room that I don't have to pay for. This trip is completely on me and not on the house!

I booked Le Meridien hotel as it is close to where some other board members are staying and very close to Harrahs casino. The room looks small but otherwise perfectly acceptable to sleep and shower. They have a small rooftop pool I can utilize to nurse any hangovers. They also offer a free Happy Hour with well reviewed cocktails and appetizers during the week. I believe you have to pay for your drinks at other times, but if anyone can talk a bartender into making me free drinks...it's me. Gotta hustle.

Some friends are attending the 7 Stars event at Harrahs, and I decided to invite myself along and join the entourage. They graciously included me in dinner reservations and a trip to Biloxi on Thursday. We are eating at Besh Steakhouse on Wednesday night and Half Shell Oyster House early Thursday night while in Biloxi. We have tentative reservations at other places the rest of the trip. I'm sure we will play it by ear as everyone has given us some great recommendations! Too much good food to narrow it down really!

My favorite slot machine is Tabasco Country Store video slot and since I'm in Louisiana, you would think there would be a few of those machines to play. My 2nd favorite is 3 Wheel Wonka. I also will be playing quite a bit of bartop VP. My bankroll is WAY WAY lower than I am use to taking on gambling trips. I close TODAY on my new house, so money is tight. I am going to have to play with restraint and budget conscious. Anyone that knows me knows I have zero self control so...the struggle is going to be REAL!

I will "TRY" to update as often as possible and take lots of photos. No promises on how "live" this report will be as I'm always distracted by shiny things....LOL! Wish me luck as I certainly need it. Tell me to take a walk if I'm losing and of course tell me to cash out and put it in the safe! Can't promise I'll listen but please tell me! ;) I'm going with a really great group and it will be a lot of fun to watch them play high limit tables and I'm hoping to try to mimic their play at BJ, Baccarat, UTH, and Craps...except on the poor people tables. Can't wait to arrive and say,"HOLA NOLA!"

Good luck in NOLA and Biloxi.
Get tons of hand pays! You need them!
Honestly, I tend to believe the slot payouts are higher in those places
than on the Strip, particularly Venetian & Palazzo.

I have been consumed with this home purchase and completely stressed and overwhelmed. So much to do and this trip is absolutely needed for my sanity. Hopefully it won't unravel the sanity of the group going. Lol I am wondering when I will have time to pack!

I've only been to New Orleans once about 4 years ago, as I recall with cabs it is a flat fee charged to get downtown. And it's quite a drive. I seem to recall paying $34, but again 4 years ago. So your rates probably spot on.

Thanks guys! I have to leave my house at the ass crack of dawn on Wednesday, so by Wednesday night I will look like I'm auditioning for the Walking Dead. ;)

Thanks guys! I'll miss you all at Fallapalooza too! I did book a car service to pick me up at airport this morning, but that was super sweet of you to offer @NewOrleansSlimm! I just got home from bank. It was comedy gold in the board room. I've never seen anything like it. The ex-wife and husbands attorney were going round and round and she was a complete spazz! She was looking over all the individual fees that were put into the closing cost and she asked him if that was his fee? He said yes, and she said,"Well didn't he get a bargain!" Bwahaha Our attorney, myself, my husband and my realtor all couldn't help but crack up laughing. She kept asking how much her ex was getting every 5 minutes! Lol No one on sellers end remembered to bring us keys or garage door openers. Lol So realtors are going to open it up and leave keys for us as we have a locksmith changing all the locks anyway.....I need a drink. It was just a complete cluster this morning. Took over 3 hours!!!

Thanks @Sonya & VegasFirstTimer! I made meals for the family for everyday while I am gone and froze them. All they have to do is thaw and heat. Laundry is all done and kids clothes are laid out for each day of school. A bit worried how homework is going to go, but hopefully my husband can figure it out. They have hours every night. Lol

I tried to play Tobasco at one of my locals, but the guy was camped out on literally 6 hours hitting 4 handpays that I saw as I kept checking to see if it was open.
    They ranged from $900, $1200, $760 and $1100.
I never new the potential of that machine.

It really does. My favorite is the 5¢ version, but I play it at $1 in Vegas usually. I won't be playing $1's this trip unless I am way up. I hate the worry of bank roll management. I'm going to do the envelope system and cash out out after every double. Hopefully there's lots of those! Lol

First "WIN" of the trip! Checked in for my flight exactly at the 24 hours from departure point and was able to upgrade to FC for $90! I only paid $197 RT for my original fight so not bad at all. Now I can drink $90 worth of booze on my way to NOLA to call it even! [IMG]

I was laughing your post says Tobacco machine instead of Tabasco. I'm pretty much a Tobacco machine in the casino so I'll be in the outdoor smoking area often. Lol
