I hot dog-sat my Dad's foot long for an inning while he stretched his legs.

Idiot me was too busy getting things ready to take pics but, did manage a nice spread to celebrate older bros birthday with his family (10 of us) on Saturday.

Canapés on the deck prior to dinner along with a four bottle blind mixed tasting. Salmon, various sausages, meats and cheeses.

    2009 Piedmont Barolo
    2007 Napa Cab
    2016 Niagara Pinot
2016 Niagara meritage (just released this week from vineyards in our back yard)

FYI - no one got the Barolo. 50/50 cab vs Pinot lovers. As a cab guy, Napa won out on second go around for me. Niagara Meritage too early but I’ll pick another up for 2024 perhaps. Being busy forgot some breathing time and bottles opened just before tasting:(

Dinner under the pergola and lights next to vineyard

    Champaign served with dinner

Niagara whites available with dinner but never opened!

Dinner started off with a Kale/smoked trout salad.

Mains served buffet style in chafers

Broiled beef tenderloin with chimichuri sauce
    Bbq chicken thighs
    Bbq ribs
    Monster bbq shrimp
    Corn drizzled with pesto butter
Mixed root and other veggies bbq

Chocolate cake and key lime pies for desert

Great night of family food and wine!

Tuscan shrimp with zucchini noodles. Green Giant has them in the frozen section- steam in the bag. — Keto friendly.

I took a frozen mass of mystery animal flesh out of the freezer last night. Apparently it's ground turkey. So we're having tacos and I've had beans soaking for a while to make frijoles refritos.

 Took a pack of meatballs out last night, too. I think it's the end of the last batch I made. That might be a good Sunday evening activity.

Had to google fattoush salad but it looks good. The recipe I pulled up calls for ground sumac and recommends not skipping it because it's integral to the flavor. Do you use it in your dressing? Is it integral?

Some say lemon pepper can be substituted. Don't buy it. Buy sumac instead. You can get it from Penzey's.

got up early and made beef short ribs in the slow cooker...
quartered an onion and tossed it into the cooker, added the short ribs and poured
a bottle of Lawrys steakhouse marinade over them.... that's it. 5 hours on high
mashed taters and baby zucchini that i sauteed in butter/olive oil with a couple dabs of tomato paste
with salt/pepper and fresh basil and oregano

    L’shanah Tova! Happy new year!

Made our traditional Rosh Hashanah dinner tonight.

Homemade challah (I swear there were braids at some point they just didn’t quite survive the second rise). First time I made it, my wife usually does but she has a nasty cold

Some apples and honey for a sweet new year (with a slice of the challah)

    And brisket and kugel

Didn’t make tzimmes this year (sweet potatoes, carrots, and prunes with oj and brown sugar.... I swear it’s better than it sounds) as I ran out of time.

It's Monday night, which means our local Mexican joint. Pacifico for me, Cadillac for the Mrs.

I did one of the local Mex joints for lunch. Fattoush salad again, here, and this time the spice and herb treatment goes on pork loin.

^ Pepper steak and beef and broccoli are two of my favorite dishes ever. I make pretty decent versions at home, but they just aren't quite like eating at the Chinese restaurant. Your pepper steak looks very good!

I had a sausage dog from a gas station for dinner tonight. :D And husband had 2 hot dogs.
