Terrific report! Loved the pics and all the details. Might not have won lots of money, but helping out a homeless person and becoming a part time photographer makes you a winner in my book. Glad you had a good time. Thanks for sharing.

Great trip report and thanks for all the great pictures as well. This reminded me of the time I was playing Wizard of Oz and a lady sat down next to me and was playing max credits. She got the bonus and was just staring at the machine for a minute until I told her she needs to pick one of the 3 boxes. Then I walked her through the Emerald Forest. About 2 minutes later she got the Flying Monkeys bonus and I walked her through that one too(even though it was pretty easy, she was VERY new). Anyway, she left up about $1200 and I didn't think anything of it when she said goodbye and way over-thanked for my help. About 3 minutes after she left, I feel a tap on my shoulder and it is her, handing me a $100 bill. Even though I was a little loaded, I respectfully declined the offer, but she insisted and put it down on the seat she was just sitting in and left. I told my wife the story and we decided we would buy dinner with that hundy(maybe it was lucky so I should have put it in the machine...but it felt weird to do so...can't explain why now).
Blonde - once my internet connection picks up I will post this on your site as well. I have been battling with SLOW SLOW connections the last few nights & it was a struggle to just get the rest of everything posted once for the end of it.
The IP has a daily slot tourney which I believe runs 11 am to 2 pm (?) Monday - Friday. And if I remember correctly the top 5 places pay $500 in Free Play & then on down to like $50 in FP. Don't remember if it goes down by 100's or what to be honest. (Had I managed to win I would be able to tell you in GREAT detail.) All you need to do is take your players card & head up to the Human Nature showroom level and take a left off the escalators & head 'away' from the strip & restroom. They have a huge machine area back there but normally only a couple of people doing the tourney at any given time. There is a registration desk there where they get your phone # etc (I believe they call the highest places). Each machine has a timer so you just sit down & start spinning on the machine number the registration guy tells you to - they have someone there to record your scores. Received a coupon sheet with coupons for free ticket to Matsuri & I think Divas (?). I don't believe they were BOGO either- I think just a straight free tix. Would have loved $500 in FP - that would have been fantastic. They have a sheet up that you can check at end of each session & I believe there must have been at least 150 people that had done it each day that I checked. Hoping it continues - I doubt I will get back before March with son's wedding coming up, but I would sure like to do it again! Nice to be able to just walk in & play rather than having a set tournament where you have to be there at a given time 3 or 4 times.
Heatherkay - In regards to the GO room question - those are Flamingo's remodeled, jazzed up rooms. See the picture in one of the first few days posts for a view of the normal bedroom area. They have an ipod dock, flat panel tv, small fridge, comfy beds. Bathrooms have 'frosted' glass walls so a bit less privacy than a standard room. But definitely nicer than the standard rooms there.
Thanks for pic compliments. The evening pics were taken with a new lens my son gave me for Mothers Day that goes to about 1.2. So it is not good for anything close - you have to be quite a ways away - but lets a ton of light in for non-blurry evening shots. Worked great in the conservatory with the subtle evening lighting. (Camera is an Canon EOS Rebel).
And that was so nice for you CFioren!!! Hope that was a wonderful meal. It does sometimes seem to me that the people that have absolutely no idea what in the blazes they are doing are the luckiest!!! And I think I would have bought something special with that also vs. playing it away.

Loved your report...NOT Boring...your trip reports often remind me of my trips! I am from a small town too, If I could afford it I think we could have a great Vegas trip together! Leave the hubbies at home. Girls trip...slots, coupons, comps, cheap food...my kinda Trip!

I actually love travelling alone or with someone who is just a diehard 'slot ho' like me & I can wander off & leave at a machine for several hours without them getting offended (my mom & my friend BB are good for that!). BB didn't care if I just abandoned her at the slots, but she was good for keeping me in line eating as I should. (That's the only issue with traveling alone - I am a diabetic so for my mom's comfort I have her call me in the middle of night so she knows I am ok & I can my best friend as soon as I get up so she knows I am ok - my husband figures they are taking care of me LOL!!)

The gal pals I usually head to vegas are great, we don't have to sit to next to each other while playing the slots, just wander about doing our own thing and play our fav games...... works great when we hotel hop... and we dont leave the hotel without each other ....none of us have cell phones (being from canada, the roaming fees are outrageous, unless someone knows of a cheap plan) We do the shows, hotel hop a bit, check out the Bellagio fountains and conservatory .....very similiar to your kind of trips

And hey Diva..I am from Canada too and I know what you mean about the roaming charges. I purchased a super cheap U.S. phone in Walgreens and a $20 phone card. To me is was well worth it to be able to keep in touch with all my Vegas friends. And I can call home cheaply now too.

Isn't being diabetic just a B**CH somedays????? The more the merrier as long as we can come & go as I please LOL!!! I do enjoy having some drinks when I am there, which makes it even more of a challenge to keep my blood sugar under control. I should just get a pump but I am so used to doing it the same way for 30 years. Part of the reason I always get to a point where I tell the waitress NOT to bring me anymore - even if I ask - I know when I am still in control.
You indicated eye difficulties - hoping my eyes stay good & healthy - and you remind me that I need to do my annual eye exam soon again!!! My eye dr didn't ever want me to have kids because of eye problems in diabetics, but he said I proved him wrong! My only current problems are 'over 40 eyes' LOL. But family history of macular degeneration & glaucoma so always have to watch & be monitored for that.
I do regret not getting downtown this trip - when I have someone with me I always manage to get downtown with them. But that hotel hopping & trying to get to Orleans every day actually ate up quite a bit of time.
And those 'trac-fone' types Blonde mentioned work really well - very popular in the U.S. My mother did that for years until I forced her onto my family plan.
