Trips to Las Vegas
24
my trip report. Not a literary piece of work like some but I hope you all like it.

We (hubby Alan and I) left Pittsburgh 11/2 on the 8:30am america West NS to Las Vegas. Was able to upgrade to 1st class both ways. We had never flown with AW and we were pleasantly surprised with the flights. Left on time, good service, polite and friendly employees. Will definitely fly with them again.

After retreiving our luggage, we caught the Dollar bus. Fastlane member here. Love it. Had reserved a compact but ended up with a loaded Town & Country minivan. Actually enjoyed the damn thing.

We were staying at the Plaza. Now I know everybody has thier opinion of the place but we have stayed here several times before and like it. Room 1554 in south tower was a mini suite with bar and living room area. Great view of the strip. Clean and quiet. Didn't notice any funky odors in the casino. We also had 2 nights at the El Cortez so we went over and checked in. Was surprised how bright and clean this place was. Room 601 was pretty decent also. I had a $25 chip and $50 slot play coming to me as a guest there so that is why we doubled up ressies. Actually spent a lot of time playing here and winning. $5 single deck was very good to us.

We were in town for the Pro Bullriding Finals and that night I was playing in a charity BJ event at Mandalay Bay. Got busted in the semifinals but I got to meet a lot of the riders and get pics and autographs. I did play at a $25/hand BJ table and took them for $500. So I was able to buy my leather jacket I wanted. WHOO HOO!!

The next 4 nights were taken up with the finals rounds and then we would go gamble. We were in the LV Club at a BJ table when... I look up and spy a famous face. I hustle over and acost this poor guy...Excuse me, but are you Hurricane Mikey?? Why yes I am, he says. I introduce myself and his friends are on him about how he is recognized everwhere. Mikey, you are one cool dude!!! We ran into him again at the Plaza where he was at the Pai gow tables. Mikey, I did eventually play the game and you were right. I love it!!!
Sorry we didn't get to Sunset Station to see you. Next time for sure.

Didn't eat anywhere special...mostly breakfast buffets and then the deli at the Golden Gate. Rode the grain train and survived and acctually won $600 at Mermaids of all places!!! I then went over to the Nugget and was playing LIR. First hand was 1 card short of a straight flush. 2nd hand was delt a full house at $10/spot and I had all 3 covered with the bonus on board. 3rd hand I got 3OAK. I then cashed out my chips and got my 1st $500 chip!!! Very exciting!!!!

When it was all said and done we came home with 2/3 of our money we took. but when i added up all I spent I actually was ahead if I hadn't gone shopping...damn outlets!! LOL!!!! So it was a pretty good trip for us both. We are definitely coming back for the 2006 finals and hope to squeeze in a spring trip.

Boy, if that guy had a buck for every time he heard that ... hold on, I think he does.

Sounds like a great trip. Nice to hear the El Co is showing some love.
