Sorry Rush, l just did the same thing, wine, stupidity and just trying to amuse people. Personally l don't care if people don't want to read my rants, those who do and find it entertaining, then l feel justified for my efforts. To each their own. However, l agree with you on this post.

    I like it, too.

I think some people are getting away from my original post, though. I like ALL trip reports, but I expect a little more from a "live" report. To me, 'live' means you are taking us with you on the trip.

I simply get disappointed when a 'live' report becomes a once daily update, if even that!

I love this idea. Live trip reports are kind of like reading Twitter. I prefer long, drawn out, overly detailed ones. I want to spend time reading reports. I realize a lot of people love live ones and I don't want to come off as bashing them. But a section full of full reports? SWOON.

What if there were both dog photos AND room photos? That is like a trip report dream come true!

Some are better than others. I actually don't even really pay to much attention to the "live" part, so I guess I the OP complaints don't really bother me. Not a big fan of endless food and drink and slot result pix.

l appreciate what you are saying, however, there is not much else to report on, as l found out when l started my trip report. Opinions l give, but they are just mine, other people have different ideas. Your thoughts on other things that you feel would help with trip reports would be appreciated, yes l know they are yours, like my opinions, please feel free to comment. N.B. l very much doubt l would do another trip report after this one l am doing now.

I am not a trip report reader for the most part, especially live reports broken up in pieces....why?

    a) enjoy your trip. It makes no difference if we hear about it in detail. While you are writing away, life is passing you by. I see that at restaurants, sporting events etc. Pay attention to the now.

    b) The comments are a distraction. If someone posts a one page report with the HIGHLIGHTS listed after the trip, that is an easy read. But the broken up report that has a dozen short comments between each section just annoys me.

I really enjoy writing trip reports, if for no other reason than that it becomes my journal (which I re-read often).

I never try a live trip report, because I don't know the story line until its played out. For example, in last April's trip, there were two storylines... my wife injuring her knee before her National bowling tournament, and my absolute refusal to play good games in favor of high volitility slots.

In my more recent Super Bowl trip, I wasn't there long enough to do anything live, but the storyline became a good weekend with my son.

All my trip reports are here, in case anybody missed them.

Agreed, his wife seems to be the brains of the outfit, so if she can put up with him, I'll take the bitter with the better. :woohoo:

I love trip reports. Not all are as good as a few of them are, but they are all a vignette into someone else's Vegas. I love the photos and food reviews and stories of big wins and even commiserating with the bad beats. I like reading about things I don't typically do like shows and clubs.

Writing a trip report isn't easy. It takes some effort and a live one takes even more effort. It is frustrating as a reader when the OP disappears mid-trip. But there are usually a few others appearing on the board at the same time so I usually just shrug and move on.

I appreciate people who take the time to share their trips with us. I don't get to Vegas as often as I'd like so each one is like a mini-escape for me.

My suggestion is to read the TRs you like and skip the ones you don't.

I tried just documenting our trip with intentions of sharing it on the board here. I made it until we got to our room where ever we were staying, got distracted and before you know it, it was day 3.
I do like reading some of the TR's, but if it talks about places we don't frequent, I am not interested. But that doesn't mean I won't drop in on a live TR once in a while. I appreciate those who do them and even attempt them. They are not easy. I really like the video TR's. Those have to be tough to do! Matt Bridger does a nice job on the VTR's!

I am grateful to each and every person no matter how they document their trip. Going to Vegas is something very special. Some people only get to do it once. Others get to go many times. So that fact that you sit down and spend time to shown it to us whether live, semi live, or on the couch a week after the fact at your house is a blessing in itself. So I thank any and everyone who has a trip report because I delight in everything Vegas.

RUSH....Great post. I always like posting a live trip report of Earl and Wade's adventures. However, I feel like I disappoint as well. It's so hard to be drunk and remember to consistently post to the board. It does help me remember what I did over the years though. I go back and read them and see things I totally forgot about. I will be doing another one in June, so feel free to call me out when I am underachieving. I won't be offended.

I also would love to hear feedback of what people like and don't like/wish I had covered during my report. I don't offer too many details and usually just post an update on what I'm doing drunk in Vegas. Obviously update the odds on if Wade will get laid as well.

Cheers! Very good post that all should read through. In all seriousness, I'm never really disappointed in any trip report personally, but I can definitely see people being very dissatisfied with what some people offer. I get it.

Fair enough! I like trip reports that give info on what you did, what you saw, where you went to eat, and especially what you liked or didn't like.( I like opinions on shows and restaurants- they all go into the hopper when I decide what to see and where to eat.) It's fun to see pix of your room, your view, any amazing dishes you ate( not unceasing pix of drinks and every basic meal you ate- wow, I had an orange and a banana for breakfast; pictured below) and if you won big, like a few of the members here did recently. Again, not never ending pix of dozens of unexciting hands you drew. I don't mean to sound harsh, just my two cents. Bottom line you( and I use the term in the plural) should put what you want in your TR, people can read it or not as they wish. Just mentioning what is of interest to me and what is not.

I remember my first TR was met with a couple really nasty comments that were kindly removed. Now I just post a few highlights once I get home. A goal is to steer people either to or from places that I liked or didn't.

I'm simply too busy in Vegas to update live. I also think my better half would also be annoyed with constant phone updating. I like to have pics and detail, which takes time for me to write up, and I also write it for a personal record of the trip. I also read my old TRs for memories at times.

I take my hat off to those who write a detailed live TR...it's not easy.

Most trip reports are lacking the sentence:

I just ran into Richard Alpert in Vegas!

I wish more of them said that! :D
