there was an awesome article a while back (5 years ago or so maybe?) which went into great detail of steve wynn and mirage co's exhaustive efforts to buy up land around the boardwalk site, kind of in a secretive fashion. i believe this was the land which would eventually become aria/citycenter. can't find the link, but im sure there is someone that can help me find it.
    thanks in advance
    steve

thanks Steve. the article im thinking of was like a 20 page vanity fair type. i don’t know what made me think of it, but it was a great article that showed how mirage used a few pseudo- shell corps and (legal) deception to buy everything up that they could around the area. except for the jockey club of course.

Try digging around on vegastodayandtomorrow.com. This may have predated the site but there may be some other helpful info there. I recall they had a lot of details on the hot mess City Center became when they were building it.

Steve-i did see that article and it's in the same realm as the one i mentioned, and a good one. looking at land development from the last 20 years is a fun endeavor.
