Has there been any room issues since marijuana became legal?

I usually stay on the strip. Didn't know where to post this question, but this thread seemed appropriate. Has the liberalization of marijuana laws in Las Vegas been an issue for any of you during recent strip stays. Bad smelling rooms? Open use? I grew up around it and, personally, hate the smell of the stuff. Just curious.

Since recreational sales started only a few days ago, doubt much of anyone has encountered any issues at this point. Will take some time. Actually, we have noticed open use smell from time to time while walking in Vegas and in a few room hallways. I would expect it will increase now.

The smell was always pretty common downtown and on the strip when walking around both before and after legalization. I'd honestly rather smell that than cigarette smoke

On my trip in June, I definitely noticed the smell a lot more then normal.
It was tolerable tho and would not make me consider not going back :p

Hotels (looking at you MGM) are going to charge and make a lot of money since it went recreational and no coffee shops to go to for the tourists. I figure edibles would be the best way to go...

The smell of it has been around for as long as I've been going to Vegas (90s). It doesn't linger in rooms like cigarette smoke, so doubtful you would notice it from the people who stayed there before you. Maybe if you have an adjoining room with someone who is smoking. And on the street, you can just keep walking. :)

Not sure what you are saying here. MGM will charge???
    No coffee shops? Meaning?
Edibles best way to go vs smoking? (personally, I do not enjoy smoking so edibles are a good idea)

Recreational marijuana has been legal in Nevada since the beginning of the year. Recreational sales began 4 days ago.

It will take some time to see if it impacts anything. I suspect it won't and everyone would have worked themselves up over nothing.

So marijuana users can only smoke it in designated smoking rooms? Or can they smoke it in any room? Can they smoke it in the casino and at the slots and tables?

Do you think the casinos will offer weed as a comp like you would a comped drink? You know, the CW's going around calling...."Cocktails....cocktails.....joints...?" :p

While I don't care for the smell of marijuana I agree that I would rather tolerate it's smell over cigarette smoke.

So blazing a left hander in a rental condo or airbnb sounds OK, but how about a timeshare like Polo towers?

The smell was pretty frequent on my last trip. Only once did I NOT smell it in the hallway. And always under the bridge between Cromwell and Flamingo.

i think you are spot on. its probably not going to change anything.

unlike cigarette smoke, weed smoke clears out fairly quickly and is usually unnoticable in 24 hours or less. hotels arent going to make a killing charging for unauthorized weed smoking, because 99 out of 100 times they wont even know. Been going to Vegas for almost 20 years now with upwards of 30 total trips. Weed was smoked in strip casino hotel rooms every single time without issue.

In Vegas now staying at the Flamingo. As soon as I got off the elevator I could smell it. Not bad where it would bother me but noticeable. I can see people all over smoking it on the strip. A different atmosphere

How about party buses/limo's. With the drivers back window up? Like in Colorado

As Shock posted from the Journals FAQ, the official answer is no. But....Vegas being Vegas, I can't imagine most limo drivers saying anything about what you're doing in the back. Especially if you tip well. Or just buy the edibles and enjoy them in your limo, hotel room or wherever. I doubt seriously that the hotels are going to be hard line about this "unless" you do blatantly stupid things. Which is pretty much how it's always been. I see the signs in the head at the Encore pool every time we're there about "illicit drug use on property and being removed" but you can't convince me there isn't a fair amount of various pharmaceuticals being discretely consumed at XS and Surrender over the course of any given evening.

Last night the fire alarms went off at Flamingo around 8. I was in my room grabbing my nightly bankroll and getting a drink when the alarms went off. They are pretty loud so it startled everyone. Later on I overheard security talking about it. A few people were in there rooms lighting up and it somehow triggered the fire alarm. They were removed from the property by the police according to security.

The moral of the story is don't smoke so much in your room, you may get caught. I'm personally sticking to edibles and pens
