Has anyone spent NYE at the Bird Bar or Margaritaville?

Long time visitor to Vegas but first time for NYE. I originally thought being out on the Strip for midnight would be fun and exciting as well as a great place to view the fireworks. I've done a lot of reading and learned that with the crammed shoulder to shoulder experience of being on the street, you also aren't going to be going anywhere the hour or two before midnight and that casino's close their doors at 11pm and reopen at 1am. Add in the obligatory drunken mess we all seem to run into at events like this and I'm quickly losing interest.

We're staying at the Flamingo and see that there are VIP tickets at the Bird Bar and supposedly has a good view of the fireworks for 125.00 each or Margaritaville has the same but for 150.00 each. Has anyone been to either one of these places on NYE and if so, how did you enjoy it?
    Thanks to all who respond.

Don’t have info regarding your actual question, but I did want to say that being out on the Strip isn’t too bad leading up to midnight, including the fireworks. It’s definitely crowded, but not totally crammed. This is from my experience being in the middle of the street in front of PH a couple years back. It does however, get unimaginably crammed as soon as the fireworks end. And you have no decision which direction you go because you are at the mercy of the crowd. It was an experience in itself.
Last NYE we spend at the corner of Tropicana and the Strip and it wasn’t overly crowded.
We are going to be at Bally’s this NYE and the plan so far is to be out on the Strip for the festivities. Based on our experience we will be seeking out a good spot to try to avoid the experience we had last time we were centre Strip.
    Have fun!

Hi I went to the Margaritaville party a couple of years ago. We sat outside on patio upstairs and had a good view of the fireworks. The party was ok. Not a rocking time but it was fine. Buffet was decent, dance floor for dancing. The street looked crowded and I kept thinking how you would use the washroom if you were drinking, so I think a party is the way to go. Have fun!

The Strip from Paris to the Mirage is an absolute logjam.
Done it several times and it is not just at midnight.
Picture someone’s chest against your back and your chest against someone else.
You cannot control which way you go.
The only thing that I have experienced close to this was Bourbon St in NOLA at Madrid’s Gras

Go to a party at your hotel !

Had to pee after the fireworks were done. 30 mins from Paris area (I think) to linq entrance. Another 30 45 mins while they checked keys...

Yes.You have no idea what it’s like until you’re in the middle of it and can’t walk ten feet because the people in front of you can’t move.

I was in Vegas last NYE. I just ended up booking a PH strip facing room (got it comped, although I did have to book it 6 months or so in advance). I never even went out on the strip on NYE. The view of the fireworks was great and the value of a private clean bathroom - priceless!

We have done the Margaritaville party. (about 3 years ago). The food was unremarkable but it was nice to have a seat to watch the fireworks and have bathrooms. Looking down at the all people convinced me to never be part of that crowd. The last few years we have just booked a room with a nice view (Bally's once and PH twice) and enjoyed the fireworks from there. This year I am booked in the Cromwell so I am not sure where we will end up for fireworks. Not in that crowd for sure. I thought prices for viewing parties were much higher over the last few years. I am surprised it is only $150. You might want to make sure it is not that cost for only the main room and not the balcony viewing.

NYE - Here we come again.
