    Next month we've got five comped nights in a Carnaval Tower high-roller-view room. Stayed there on a comped basis last year as well, was ok but a wee bit tired, so we may ask/pay for switching to a refurbished room - just to see what they are like.

    I seem to remember reading somewhere that the refurbed rooms don't yet have room-safes that can fit an iPad.

    So, 2 questions;
    Are the refurbished rooms worth paying for? and,
    Do they now have decent sized room safes?

    They're gorgeous. Absolutely worth it, in my book. I'll defer to somebody else on the safe as I stayed in a suite, not a standard room, and it was several months ago.

    Interesting - they put the Linq-like soap/shampoo dispensers in these rooms as well.

    Looks great. And can you confirm if you had a decent-sized room safe?

    Well, it depends on what "decent sized" is to you. I might not have been able to put a laptop in it, but I could have put several $300 Silver Strikes in it. I'll be down there In two weeks and will measure. I guess I will start adding those measurements in my future TRs.

    No need to be exact. :rolleyes: I'm just keen to check if the room safe is large enough to hold an iPad and a couple of phones. (We've stayed in some Vegas hotels where we can't fit the iPad in the safe.)

    As I recall, yes to an iPad and two phones, but let me make sure in two weeks. Next week's trip I will be staying at Aria and not setting foot in any CET property.

    Just got back from Harrahs and stayed in Valley 2 Q room. Safe is on closet shelf and yes can fit ipad and couple phones. Just have to watch opening bathroom sliding door if safe open or will collide with safe door. Lovely room and my only complaint was that needs more towel bars or hooks in bathroom.

    Thanks Lisa. We'll definitely try for an upgrade to a refurbed room. It's nice to get a comped room, but that makes it easier to pay a little extra or a $$ sandwich to move up a level.

    I had comped carnaval tower in May was offered a valley tower room for $12 a night. I would have taken it if they had a king but they only had 2 queens so stayed where we were, I also heard them offer valley tower to someone else for $12,

    Aye. I would do the same. A refurbed room is all well & good - but a king bed always trumps two queens for me.

    I stayed in the Valley tower last November for Fabtech, and I believe the room safe CANNOT fit an ipad. I have an ipad and I used the old "wrap it in underwear" trick in my suitcase.

    Is there a coffee maker in the new valley tower rooms?

    Yes, Valley Tower rooms have the usual motel sachet type (Cafe Valet), not a Keurig.
