This is my first trip report, so it will not likely measure up to some of the epic reports I have read over the years, but I will give it my best shot. I just got back a couple of hours ago, so at least it will be timely.
Flights
I flew Southwest out of Houston Hobby, and although they are not fancy, they usually are on time, as they were for both flight segments.
Food
I am not a gourmet, and I was by myself this trip so it was generally the buffet, snacks in the Palm room (where I met some very nice locals), and grabbed fast food burgers in a pinch. I know that's a shame with all of the food options that NO has to offer, but I generally don't like to eat in a nice restaurant when its just me.
Entertainment
Mainly the gambling, but I did take off one afternoon to catch a movie (Rogue One - I didn't want to lose my nerd card by ever missing a Star Wars movie LOL). I also made it down to Bourbon Street where I had the obligatory Hurricane at Pat O'Brien's and listened to some live music at a couple of other places.
Gambling
I will avoid leaving my reader in suspense, and confess to the bear mauling me, spitting me out, and as I lay broken and beaten, coming back for a second helping. I played a lot of slots, but my main poison of choice was 10 handed quarter 8/6 Video Poker. Poison is a very apt term for the results. How many times can you be dealt a low pair, draw to it, and hit nothing in 10 handed poker? The question is rhetorical, but I think I did advance research into that topic. I can afford the losses, but I never felt I had a fighting chance. Perhaps I was spoiled in my last Vegas trip, when I had a $1000 hit and a $500 hit within 5 minutes of each other. On this trip, I did end up with a 2500 point day, a 1000 point day and a 500 point day, so with the tier bonuses, I am getting close to making diamond again already in 2017 so that at least is a plus for the General Ledger. And as they said in "Gone with the Wind", "Tomorrow is another day".
Thanks for reading this report, and I hope you found it mildly entertaining.
