last night around 8pm they opened up the 2nd outdoor smoking section at harrahs new orleans and they are working on the 3rd and final one now...they put a lot more time and effort into this one and although I dont smoke, it was really nice and through the bushes you get a nice view or canal street, street car, people watching and maybe people mugging, lol...

    got a few pics

this was a few weeks ago still under construction, just before the entrance to valet

the entrance is located in the cafe on canal, between mcallisters deli and starbucks, i was quite drunk last night and not sure how they fit that there, if starbucks or mcallisters was downsized

Did it look like they added slot machines to the casino or did they just take machines from the non-smoking area and put them in the new smoking areas? Are they going to add table games to the smoking area?

they are all brand new machines, brand new everything, nothing moved from inside to outside...like the 1st smoking section, they will monitor what makes the most money and for the least played ones, they will either change the game on it or like the reel machines, they will swap it out...as for tables, havent heard of them doing it and with the 3rd section in progress, it doesnt look that big. I wouldnt count on it

this is the 3rd section in progress from a few weeks ago, it is on S.Peter st right across from the Windsor Court hotel

Thanks for the updates. Was the climate comfortable? I didn't realize it was feasible to air-condition a patio, in New Orleans in July.

Nice that they have slots in the smoking area.

ok, I emailed Dan last night and got some confirmation instead of giving you guys my guess

first off, yes, you can air condition outside in new orleans in the summer, its expensive but I think they can swing it...the heaters cook you during the cold season...I didnt go in there last night but for the first night it was like a test run, opened late that day, so they just finished acid washing the floors and didnt have the a/c on at the time...the 1st smoking section in valet, feels great with the a/c, the 2nd has more vents spread out so it should be nice

as for the table games outside, this is what Dan had to say

That's fascinating, thanks. I wish some of the other Caesars properties that allow smoking would create outdoor play areas for NON-smokers.

Thanks for the info. I haven't seen the new areas, but for table games, I can see chip control, the chips are much closer to freedom in a smash and grab, even if the prep can't get out. Also how would the wind effect the cards. Not deal breakers, but items that would need to be thought out.

small update, progress is being made on the 3rd smoking section, after cutting a big entrance way to the section, they had to form a base...few more weeks and it should be open

ths is a google streetview prior to work but where they decided to place this smoking section

here is as of yesterday 7-28-17... roof is on the main section, cameras and lights installed, honestly not sure what they are doing with extension if it will be covered or not
