Had a bachelor party i was going to this past weekend in Asheville. A few of us decided to drive up a night early and hit the casino at Cherokee. I hadn't been out to Cherokee before, but I was pleasantly surprised with how nice the resort was. We had the lowest tier room and it might have been nicer than the Mirage room I usually stay in when I'm in Vegas. The resort overall was much bigger and nicer than I had expected too. Overall, just a really cool place. The area surrounding the casino I can't say too much about. You drive up and down a windy mountain road through the middle of nowhere for 30 minutes before you get to the resort. I definitely didn't want to be broken down anywhere around there. We joked about how many meth labs had to be in the trailers surrounding, but it really probably wasn't too far off. On the way in, we stopped at the last liquor store before getting there and stocked up on some bourbon, vodka, and fireball. I had read on here already that drinks weren't comped in the casino, so we wanted to be prepared. We then stopped by 2 separate gas stations hoping to pick up a case of beer as well, but neither one sold alcohol, so we just grabbed some ginger ales and cups and decided that should be plenty. After an hour or so of pounding as many drinks as possible before hitting the casino, we found a blackjack table with just enough open spots for our group. I hit a blackjack on 2 of my first 4 hands and was surprised to find out that they paid 3 to 2 on blackjacks. I thought that was going to be the start of an awesome night. I was wrong... 700 bucks later, I moseyed back up to the room with my head down. Every single one of the 4 of us lost big. Never seen so many multi card 21's from a dealer. Overall though, still a fun trip. We were able to drive there and split a room 4 ways, so still cheaper than a Vegas trip for me. Looking forward to my New Orleans trip coming up this summer now.
