    Climate inside Harrah's

Livestock66, Bruce, and others who've visited - how is the temperature?

Am planning clothes for our mid-Sept trip and want to be sure I am warm or cool enough depending. Since we'll be there on a weekend, there will be lots of "body heat", I'm sure.

I prefer cooler, but don't want to be surprised! Thanks much for any comments!

Is this considered an Indian owned casino?

I've never been to one so I'm just wondering...

If you mean outside, Cherokee will generally be low 80s that time of the year.

If you mean in the casino, it's cold like most casinos. They pump the air in that place. Doesn't bother me, but my wife is always cold when we go there.

Thank you for the reply - yes, I was asking about the climate INSIDE the casino. We'll be there this next weekend (first trip) and want to be comfortable. Since I'm reading that weekends are very crowded, didn't know how much they turn down the temp to counter the extra bodies.

    I appreciate the feedback!

We just returned yesterday from Cherokee. Tuesday the lows were in the 50's outside. I wasn't cold inside although my wife was. It's probably best to carry a light jacket or sweater, or hoodie..:peace:

We just got back, spending only one night, Monday.
I did ok, just playing Pot O Gold, Black Gold (video blackjack).
It wasn't crowded at all although when we called to see if we could get a free room on Sunday we were told that they were sold out. We even tried to book a Sunday in Oct and it was sold out also. I told my wife that they were probably sold out of their allotted free rooms. The next time we get a mailer we are making reservations early!!

    Well, this is interesting.

My father used to have a vaction home in the closest N.C. town to the Cherokee casino. I remember visiting it the first year it was in operation.

The slots were so tight and the "video craps" was so cumbersome to play that we decided that the only reason to make the trip was to eat at their pretty nice buffet.

We made at least four subesquent trips, ate at the buffet and left without even being tempted to drop a single coint into the most unfavorable slot games imaginable.

And they didn't serve alcohol on the property at all!

Has this changed over the years?

I'll be interested in hearing how the live games turn out and see it it's worth a return trip if we're ever in the area again.

They do serve alcohol, not free though. Soft drinks are free.
I don't play the tables so I couldn't attest as to how that is working out.
Harrah's is just finishing a major remodeling. It looks great, the casino isn't too smoky.
One complaint we hear is the long walk to and from the hotel. I'd say 4 or 500 feet. Not my complaint.
I find that the video bj is very good. The job machines leave a lot to be desired, most were 8/5 games, maybe even 7/4. I might be wrong about the actual figures, I just didn't see any job machines worth playing.

We were at Cherokee for the night yesterday and they do have let it ride--saw at least 4 tables and I think the min bet was $10.00 but not sure as the tables were busy and I couldn't get really close to see

Thanks for the info. I'll pass this along to my father-in-law. Don't know why but thats the only casino card game he will play.

Has anyone visited in the last few weeks? Thinking about driving up tomorrow, but interested in whether the dealers have improved / space at the table.

    Thanks!

We were there about a week ago--they have brought in quite a few experienced dealers from Miss. and a few from Vegas to work and also to train.
You are looking at Friday from what you listed and if it is the evening it will be very busy--not as bad during the week--but the week-ends are really packed

    Thanks that helped!

Drove up last night to check it out and I was very pleasantly surprised. Solid decor, good check-in, nice dealers albeit some still training. The creek tower room was decent.

As predicted the craps tables were packed solid. Still at five but sounds like thrill be up to ten by end of year.

Looks like credit lines are in place as well.

Had an opportunity to go up again.

They added three more craps tables last week, so eight total now during the evenings and they were still utilizing most of those during the day (Sunday). Hopefully they'll continue to add additional tables as demand dictates.

Table games were still packed to the brim. Great sign for the tribe and happy they're doing so well.

Hopefully their continued success will allow them the resources to continue expanding the resort. They could use expanded gaming space and a couple more hotel towers.

We're heading up again tomorrow. I've be twice since last posting. They've increased the number of Pot 'o Gold bj machines so I'll be trying my luck again with them.

Just back from another great 2 1/2 days at Cherokee. I was surprised at all of the table games now, maybe 20-30! I did well at the video bj machines! My wife also left there in the + column.

A lot more table games than you thought! From my other post in this section:

"There are 8 roulette wheels, 8 craps tables, 8 3-Card-Poker tables, 2 Let-It-Ride, 4 live Baccarat tables (back in the HL area) and 32 blackjack tables. There are also 12 blackjack tables in the HL area and it looks like they are building a 'Diamond Lounge' area with 12 more high-limit blackjack tables. On a Sunday night 90% of all tables were open.
    "

So 74 table games at the moment!
