Yeah that is terrible. I would think they would want everything opened as soon as possible. Terrible idea only opening up high limit tables too...way to break in the new dealers... have them making mistakes at high limit tables!

Now, if they could only provide free drinks. That is crazy.

They had a video from earlier today saying they'll have three craps tables open this weekend in addition to the blackjack tables they already have open. Not terrible, but they're going to be packed for some time I'm sure.

Dang, they dont comp drinks there either?

I guess with it being a 'standalone' casino and no competition it makes sense they wouldnt comp them.

But are they at least cheap?

Harrah's Metropolis doesnt comp them either, and you have to wait at least 20 minutes before ordering a 2nd one, but I can understand because its walking distance to a many less-than-rich houses, shall we say. So I suppose they dont want everyone coming in and getting tanked on the house.

Greenbrier is stingy on drinks as well, but not sure if its more of a legal thing in WV. On my last visit the pit boss used vouchers or something to pay for the drinks. Too bad that harrahs charges.

Are there any hours limits to the table games? I haven't seen any weird rules online.

Booked a room for next Friday.

So I got to spend about 4 hours there last Friday, and here's what I saw. Three craps tables with $10 minimums, and 10x odds. All packed. For the live Blackjack tables, there were 4 $25 min. tables, 6 deck shoe, DAS, RSA, S17. There were 4 $50 tables and a bank of $100 tables as well; but I didn't catch those rules.

I sat down for a BJ session and got a mountain boy who said this was only the second table he'd ever dealt to, and he was terrible. Mistakes, talking too much, nervous, etc.. Of course with that vibe I started bleeding money and wasn't having fun, so I stopped, got up and walked away. After flushing $200 down a $1 JOB game (8/5), I went back to Blackjack and sat down at a table with a bunch of Diamond CET people and a dealer/trainer on loan from the Flamingo. Her name was Virginia and she was a real pro. The game moved much better and I got back to even for the day when I split my 2's twice and doubled down all in one hand for a $600 win (biggest bet I've ever made). I had to leave to meet friends for a hiking trip, but really enjoyed my time there.

This is a really pretty casino. I had no idea. Now that they've got tables I will be finding my way back there.

Great review, that is exactly what I'm looking for. I think I'll make a run up in October. Hopefully have some more tables and the dealers will have worked out the kinks.

So in my 3 hours of play last Friday, I earned 308 Tier Credits. That's just a little bit higher than my previous daily average, which makes me a low roller. However, I can now get any day comped in the Creek (newest) tower.

Had I had a full day I would have racked up alot more TCs as I've gone from a $10 a hand BJ, $5 craps player, 25 cent VP player to $25 BJ, $10 craps and $1 VP player. Again, I was pleasantly surprised by this casino, which is good since it will have to be my fix for the next year or so, since we're expecting our first child soon, so no vegas.

Congrats! There will be time for Vegas later.

How did you handle the jump from $10 bj to $25? When you play $1 video poker do you play max coins?

Craps Tables - how busy on weekends?

We are thrilled that table games are now available - especially Craps! Planning a weekend trip in September and interested how busy the tables have been so far. Also how are the dealers since this is new for Cherokee and new craps dealers can really slow down the action.

    Thank you for any comments!

    WestCobb,

I absolutely love craps myself, but didn't even try to get on the table last weekend, as it was absolutely packed. They had two open and a third waiting. Based on what I saw they'll be needing to add more soon.

It did seem the games were moving a little slow, but there were vegas dealers there training the Cherokee folks. They should be running smooth by mid Sept., because they'll get lots of practice with those packed tables!

    livestock,

Thank you for the quick reply! I hope Cherokee is ready for the rush of new players for their live games. I wouldn't be surprised to see a half-dozen Craps tables in operation during busy times. Atlanta metro is over 5 million strong and many of us used to drive 6 hours to Biloxi or 7 to Tunica - 3 hours away is a gift!! I expect Cherokee to become THE go-to gaming destination for Atlanta, and a couple of additional casino/hotels will guarantee that.

    Jim

    I agree with Jim!
My wife and I drove up Monday morning and returned today, Wednesday. We were comped the rooms and had a great time. 99% of the renovations are complete and it really looks great.
Neither I nor my wife played the live games. She stayed with the video games and I the Black Gold 21. We both did well, leaving just a little of Harrah's money.

    Bruce,

Thanks for the feedback and glad to hear about Harrah's renovation. We are planning a trip in a couple of weeks and excited to hit the Craps tables. Did you notice how busy the tables were? This will be our first trip, but certainly not our last!

The tables, BJ, and 3 card poker were crowded and I saw minimums of $25. The Craps tables were also crowded.
I expected to see the slots crowded also but not so much on Mon and Tues evening.
They've added several Pot 0 Gold-Black Gold 21 machines. 99% of my play was on them.
We are already planning on a return visit.
    Good luck Jim!

I can't believe this place is only about 1:45 hrs from Knoxville and 45 minutes or so from Gatlinburg. Seems like it could pull in a sh!t ton of folks from all over, esp ATL like you said.
My friends and I went to Tunica as part of our SC GameCock/TN tradition on Friday after they played Vandy. We are already planning to hit aharrah's Cherokee next year before the SC v UT game!

I wonder if the BJ tables will mostly stay at $25 per bet. If they stay real busy I could see them doing that

Anyone know if more tables are on the way?
