    Hi All,

I will be staying at Harrahs for 5 nights in June, Carnaval tower, unless I get lucky and get get an upgrade.

I have read that the air conditioners are now motion censored, and turn off at night, because of lack of motion.

I thought I had read on this board, some tricks others have posted, about how to keep the air conditioners running. I have searched , but alas can't seem to find the thread.

Anyone on here have any idea's or tips on how to keep that air running? I like a cold room, especially in June.LOL

Last time I stayed there, the air conditioning was definitely active only when you were in the room.

They tell me (the ubiquitous "they") that tying a helium balloon to something and let it naturally wave back and forth will keep the AC on.

The room cools quickly but it helps to keep the curtains drawn when you aren't in the room so it's not as hot to cool down. My problem is it can cut off if it doesn't detect motion at night when you are alseep. Maybe a balloon can help with that.

On my last trip to Atlanta, it sure seemed like the AC was rigged to shut off when unoccupied. When I would first enter, it seemed quite muggy, not really warm, but it cooled and became less muggy very shortly.

There are you tube videos on overriding hotel thermostats. If you can find one that is for the brand of thermostat in the hotel room you might have some luck in changing the settings so it doesn't turn off at night.

During my last trip to Harrahs I called maintenance and the guy was there in 5 mins, it only took him 30 seconds to turn off the sensor. He said they get a lot of calls to disable - no problem. Stay cool, that was an end of August bday trip - 112 outside!

That type of A/C system would be a deal-breaker for me. I don't care if maintenance can disable it, I wouldn't book at a hotel that has it. When I get to my room I'm not there very long except to shower and maybe play hide and seek with my wife before I want to sleep. I can't sleep when it's warm. I always want my room cold when I arrive.

First off, don't stay in the Carnival tower, it will no different than staying in a Motel 6. My original room and then my upgraded room, the AC stayed on the whole time, always came into a cool room. Mind you this was in April but still no issues with it.

Good to know that I can call Maintenance and they will overide the sensor.

Carnaval Tower is the furthest away from Carnival court, and I do not want to hear the noise at night from Carnival court. The room I have thus far is in Carnaval Tower, north facing, and it is comped for 5 nights. Anyone happen to know if north facing is a view of the high roller? When I logged into my account that is what came up as comped.

I am hoping for an upgraded room, with the 20.00 trick, but I realize it may be hit or miss.

Thank you all for the information. I appreciate it.

My comp was on the 12th floor facing the High Roller in the Carnival Tower. I was directly over the valet/parking garage and heard horns and alarms quite often. I actually asked for a new room and was told it would be $20/night extra to move. Made a comment on their twitter page and was moved to a strip view suite. Not sure about the $20 trick but they did not seem to interested in taking care of me when I checked in.

    Thanks!

I was not aware that they would disable it on request.

    Iwannabeinvegas,

I have read the thread $20.00 trick for Harrah's and it seems from what others have said, that there is good chance it won't work.

If it doesn't work, oh well.

BTW thanks for the heads up about the floor and room you were given. Now, I know not to accept a room over the valet/parking garage. That really helps.

Maybe I should join twitter. LOL

You can also put a shirt on a hangar which you hang by the vent and the sensor will pick it up

LOL, pantyhose clipped to the vent should do it as well.
