I got a wedding I’m attending in the Phoenix area in March. One of the hotels with a wedding guest block of rooms is at talking stick. I saw on the map they are not very near each other. Any point making a visit to Ak-chin? I am flying in on a Thursday for the Saturday wedding and was thinking of using a comp. harrah’s room on that Thursday.
Sure, you can get to Ak-Chin from Scottsdale in about an hour, maybe less depending on traffic. TS is by far a better hotel and casino—rooms are gorgeous and the casino is above average with a very large poker room. It also has a golf course and some good restaurants including a small seafood restaurant that has incredible jambalaya. TS is not far from downtown Scottsdale, where there are museums and fine dining. TS would easily be my recommendation if these were normal times. Right now, however, everything is upside down. Ak-Chin is way out on the road to Maricopa off of Queen Creek. Kind of remote. But, with Covid restrictions, remote may be better. I think I would take the comp at Ak-chin with the idea that nothing is really open in Scottsdale. Be aware that traffic can be heavy on the 10 going from the AC to downtown Phoenix, but the 101 and 202 can be helpful depending on where you are going. Hope that helps. .
