going to Borgota for the weekend, we don't do too much hopping but will go to HR or Ocean for an afternoon, if we eat at one of these which one may have better options, and over all feel as Ocean is newer

    For an afternoon visit?

I'd probably say HR. It has more going on and I believe they have a live band playing near the entrance bar. If you want to hit the boardwalk, you have Landshark Bar and Grill open on the beach at Resorts next door. HR just hits it better for a day stop.

If you're looking to stay, I'd say Ocean. The gaming is better there...better vp pay tables, lower table minimums, a more luxurious property. But, the luxury comes out when you're staying there such as the 11th floor and it's sky garden, it's pool ON the boardwalk only for guests, it's great in door/out door pool among other pools, the mezzanine bars overlooking the casino floor (currently closed but you can walk around it) it's higher quality rooms.

Given the current conditions my vote would be Hard Rock. They offer sit down dining at HR cafe, the balcony bar( $49.99 all you can eat blue claws), council oak fish, the Sugar factory and the beach bar. This decision is also slightly swayed because Resorts is right next door and offers sit down dining at Landshark, margaritaville, and their Chinese place.

If you go to oceans I believe you can only get take out and eat in the parking garage. There are also two food trucks by the valet entrance.

There is currently no live music in Hard Rock but there is daily live music on the boardwalk right between the entrance to the Steel Pier and Hard Rock.

A word of advice. Very few places are taking reservations. Plan on giving your name 1 1/2- 2 1/2 hours ahead of the time that you want to eat. Also the places that are taking reservations book up fast.

You should read a few of the recent trip reports from AC. This will help greatly. The search feature will unlock a wealth of knowledge.
