Leaving cold weather, and snow we had a great flight to LV and a A+ landing. This was our 6th trip to Vegas, but our first to MGM Grand (Grand Tower)and a wonderful stay at a great hotel (we defiantly will stay there again). The rooms were spacious, ours had a king size bed and the bathrooms were large. At check in we took previous tip advise and asked for rooms near the elevator and got the second room in the hallway. Thank God we got this room because those hallways are long, really long (you wouldn't beleive it until you see it). The casino is very large and sprawls over a very large area, but is quite comfortable to play in and drinks are offered on a regular basis. (never had to hunt out a cocktail waitress) At check in we got the coupon book (had to ask for it) that had a 2-4-1 coupon for the buffet. This was a good coupon because it was good for up to 6 people which we had in our party. We used this coupon every day for the breakfast buffet and it was fantastic. We played in the Aladdin slot tourney, which you can get in at any time. This tourney is a great deal because you play in the tourney and can win $50 or $100, then you get $10 to play on the slot card, but you have to play certain slot machines. You also get to pick a gift from a list, one of which is a $20 gift certificate to any of the restaurants in the casino. We used ours at the buffet which paid for the dinner, this was a real treat because this buffet has got to be the best in town. If your in Vegas play in this slot tourney. We also received tickets for the show Society of Seven at half price and it was a real fun show. It was a group of seven Hawaiians who do impersonations, comedy and are good musicians. We signed up for the slot card at the Tropicana and found out if we played 1/2 hour on any slot or video poker machine (nickel, quarter or dollar) you got a free T-shirt and tickets to the Folies Bergere show.(FREE) We saw the 7:30 show, but you can go to either show. Other shows we saw during the week were Ronn Lucas at the Rio and Mac King at Harrahs. If you sign up for the slot card at Harrahs you get the fun book for the Rio and Harrahs along with vouchers for free tickets to both shows(all you have to do is buy a drink). I could see Mac King a dozen times and still laugh as hard each time. Downtown we saw the Larry G. Jones show at Fitzgeralds for the price of two drinks, this show was all impersonations and really a good show to see. All in all we saw five shows and paid only a total of $72 for two of us. We participated in the show Masquerade in the Sky at the Rio using a 2-4-1 coupon from the fun book and had a great time. Oh yea there was one problem, the computer shut down and we sat in the air for 45 min. until they could get it up and running again. Following the ride we talked with someone involved with the show and got free tickets for the Rio Carnival buffet. This buffet was good but I wouldn't pay full price for it if all I had to pay was $20 for the buffet at the Aladdin. Other places we ate at were the California where we had the prime rib special. This by far is probably the best deal in town and if you don't take advantage of it when you go to LV then your missing out on one fantastic meal at $5.95. We went to Binions where we had sandwiches and I had the chili which was really good and quite filling. Average sleep per night was about 4 to 5 hours in order that we could get everything done. we gambled most at the MGM where we were pretty sucessful at the slots(video) and I tried my luck at the Multistrike video poker where I played the deuces wild bonus game. I didn't get the 4 deuces but did cash in on plenty of 4 of a kinds in the 4th line where the win is times 8. This game is really fun to play and I was a decent winner(say $100) up during the week. I did notice that being new it really wasn't quite popular and some people playing it were only playing one or two lines not taking advantage of the better multiplier. Went downtown to play 50 cent roulette where I did really well hitting a lot of my numbers right on, making myself approximately $150 dollars the two trips down. My wife was doing her best on hitting decent jackpots on many video slots such as Jackpot party, monopoly, wheel of fortune and the 5 times and 10 times machines. She made enough during the week to help with next years trip, yes we will return for trip #7. My best trip souvenier was obtained during my walk through MGM at 3:00 am, the maintenance crew was replacing the blackjack cloths on the tables. Being my bold self I asked if I could have one ( figuring they would never give me one), well they gave me the blackjack cover. So then I figured, did they replace the roulette table tops and I got one of those covers too. These will make my new bar tops at home, it will make for great Vegas night parties. Leaving is always hard(especially when you have to fly into a ice storm, Buffalo N.Y.) but before we left we hit the Jackpot party for $210 in 5 minutes then had to leave for the airport. Well, another year down, maybe I can talk my wife into a trip in October. Wouldn't that be nice.
Dang Boomer--scoring the blackjact table cover. Man, that's awesome! Thanks for the great report. Mikey
