I am happy to share my secrets...in-person.

Honestly I've got nothing all that earth-shattering, but I would be sad to see things go away because the casino found out about it on the internet from me.

Day 39, Mon 8/31, Work, 4Qs and Binion's Promo Results, Chicago Brewing Dinner

4am came too fast on a Monday morning, but I powered through another eight hour work day.

I had already earned the 4,000 pts for the Four Queen's promotion, so today the plan was to work on the Binion's promotion. There was no way I could earn the 4,000 pts in one afternoon at $1 BP, so the aim was 2,000 pts to get the first tier of the promo. 3,200 hands took almost 4 hours of play and cost $1,500!

With all the huge losses and I was starting to wonder if I had had a stroke and lost my video poker strategy knowledge without realizing it.

The Binion's promo earned $200 free play. At full-pay Bonus Poker I was able to turn that into only $85. Ughhh.

Across the street I had $400 free play at Four Queens. That treated me better and I turned it into $500 at full-pay JoB.

    Summary for the TLC promos:
    -$2,800 loss playing
    +$ 600 converting free play
    +$ 150 cashback from 6,000 pts
    +$ 300 comp dollars from 6,000 pts
+$ 180 comp dollars bonus from promo
    ------------------------------------
    -$1,500 total

Oy, that's the bad side of variance two promos on a row. My hope is that averaging 2,000 pts/day two months in a row at Four Queens and Binions will get me some decent offers in the future to help counteract the loss.

Dinner was a burger and cheese sticks at Chicago Brewing at Four Queens. The burger was nothing special. I tried to order cheese curds but you can only get them as part of a huge sampler platter. The cheese sticks were good...sorry I forgot to take a pic before shoving most of them in my face.

Keep it classy patrons of Four Queens :rolleyes2:

Ordinarily I would assume that anyone who would spend this much time “resort living” in Vegas would be degen & wiped out on funds. But you seem to be doing the opposite of that assumption. Really admire your thought process & discipline. A little luck sprinkled in here & there too. Excellent TR. I get excited each time you do an update.

This will go down as the most epic TR ever. I’ve been following this since the beginning, 2 months and counting.

@Tarpie seems to have a well balance of discipline, luck and skill at video poker.

I agree. And unlike many gamblers, rather than just "play for fun" he targets his action on attractive promos. I tip my hat to him.

Day 40, Tue 9/01, Work, Costco, VP, Market Street Cafe Dinner

Thanks everyone for complimenting my plan and discipline. But as of this day of the trip the profitable promos are over. So the gambling from here on out is to "pay" for the rooms and/or for fun...you know, degening. :)

Lunch ran me out of bags of chips so I needed to hit Costco to replenish the junk food. I've got to say I love the Costcos in NV.
    IMG_20200901_133742.jpg

Virginia has state run liquor stores so the Costcos don't have hard booze (better than MD where they don't have any alcohol). Luckily it is not too far from my house to the Costco in DC which does have booze, but it's still a half-day adventure to get there and back with DC traffic.

The variety of boxes of snacks was pretty poor so I'm stuck eating funyuns and cheese puffs for the next three months. Need to get a box of Utz when I get back home.
    IMG_20200901_140840.jpg

Back at the Cal I ran $10,000 coin-in at video poker to "pay" for my room. I just got a host so don't want to annoy her on my first comped stay :) Came out ahead $15 on the video poker, a very nice reprieve from how the gambling gods had been treating me. Breaking even felt like a huge win.

Dinner was at Market St Cafe. Counter seating is great for a solo diner but it always seems like they have to page a server to come over from the Fremont or something. It always takes forever to order.

I ordered the chicken wings, spicy. They were fried well, but all they did is drown them in Frank's hot sauce. They were a soupy mess and not particularly picante. Next time I will try a drier flavor.
    IMG_20200901_171058.jpg

I finally got around to getting the oxtail soup this trip. It's always delicious, but man can it be tedious to get all the meat off the bones. (Yes, I am that lazy).

I take a picture of the screen after I put in cash. And sadly sometime have to take a picture of a re-buy two along the way. At the end of every session I take a picture of my cash-out slip on the screen.

Back in the room I record the cash in, cash out, time-in, and time-out of the session. I have different formulae for calculating the number of hands in the session. For instance, I earned 2,000 points in a session at Binion's, so that means I ran $16,000 coin-in through at $8/pt. I am not counting the hands while I'm playing...at least at places that have an easy to calculate points to coin-in formula.

Here are the entries for the Binion's promo debacle. The first row was running off the free play. That I did count with an app on my phone since you don't accumulate points for free play. So every time I hit "draw" I also hit a big "increment counter" button on my phone. When the count go to 40 I stopped playing ($5 per hand * 40 hands = $200 free play).

For the running profit numbers in my trip reports I just highlight all the days of the trip in the "Profit" column. I also have some pivot tables that show "profit" by casino/date/game type.

Day 41, Wed 9/02, Work, Laundry, Jerry's Nugget Dinner, VP, Craps

What's that? Three days of updates in one day!? You can thank Boyd for shutting down BConnected for maintenance all day. I'm not playing video poker downstairs if I'm not sure I'm getting credit for it. The BConnected desk said they heard the system may be up at 3:30pm (PDT).

Another day of work, some funyuns with my ham wrap, and then off to 24 Hour Laundromat Twain. Wednesdays seem like the day to do laundry...not too crowded at all.

I timed the laundry so that it would be dinner time when it was finished. Since I was already out and about it was easy to stop by Jerry's Nugget on the way back to the Cal. I opted for the "World Famous" prime rib. The starter salad was surprisingly good and well dressed.
    IMG_20200902_160327.jpg

The prime rib was probably the best of the "downtown" prime ribs. It came out nice and rare but was suitably warm. The potatoes were cafeteria quality. Garlic bread was a nice touch. It's not listed on the menu.
    IMG_20200902_162026.jpg

Two complaints. You can order 8-10oz or 28-30oz cuts. The first isn't quite enough and the second is way too much. The 8-10oz that I ordered left me wanting a little more. And second, in what seems to be a vegas thing, my server went on break so another server took over. She was not too happy to be there, and audibly sighed when I ordered wine. I think servers have to go out to the casino bar to get wine. Not a big deal, and if I'm in the neighborhood I'd be happy to eat there again.

After laundry and dinner I ran $5,000 coin-in at video poker at the Cal. Only cost $255 :rolleyes2:

After that I ended up at Four Queens for four hours of craps. I had just started using the "How a Math Nerd Plays Craps" strategy at https://youcanbetonthat.com/. The gist is you place double bets on 6 and 8 and take them down to single bets after hitting one. It does seem to smooth out the swings (until a bunch of point-7 outs in a row occur). I can't tell you what "strategy" I was using before this, but I usually ended up lighting money on fire. Memories are little fuzzy from Corona (beer) and Jameson, but I think I took 4Q for over $500. The highlight was bankrupting a Don't player who was wearing a Bills hat.
    IMG_20200902_230707.jpg

On the way out I noticed the Silver Strike machine was turned back on. It was off for a month. @AyDee needs to come clean it out again. And take all the pictures you want.
    IMG_20200902_230909.jpg IMG_20200902_231639.jpg

Glad I opted to play at Four Queens...I would have gone to bed at a reasonable hour if I had been playing at the Cal.

I don’t drink to often, but I enjoy Corona light when I do drink. I thought I was going to get a dirty look the last time I ordered a Corona, but to my surprise did not.
