That would be my sense as well, but I'm thinking primarily for casinos downtown, given their much smaller size. The D, where I hope to visit, comes to mind. I may head down there earlier in the day rather than planning to stroll in after dinner some place as downtown will be more crowded then.

For the strip casinos, assuming reduced demand/visitors, I assume that will be less of an issue. Even before social distancing, for example, the casino floor at Wynncore was pretty spacious, especially in Encore.

I like playing at V/P as well -- and got a great birthday offer so I'll definitely be spending some time there -- but machines are definitely more crowded in the Venetian than in the Palazzo. They are both big places, however, so 50% of casino floor capacity is still probably, I would guess, a pretty big number. It'll be interesting to see how demand increases and how quickly Sands decides to open Palazzo after opening first just Venetian.

Edited to add: My guess is hotel guests will automatically be factored into floor capacity as otherwise it would be crazy difficult to track the moves of individual hotel guests staying at YOUR property. So, if X hotel's 50% capacity is 4,000 people and they have 1,000 hotel guests (regardless of where those guests may be at any one time), then 3,000 additional folks/casino players/restaurant diners could be on the floor at any one time.

Hotel guests, particularly for smaller hotels, also might have to show their room keys if a place was getting packed. Kind of like what happens once the NYE fireworks end.

Designated doors out, designated doors in. Automated counters at each one. That’s my guess. If casino is full guests will be allowed to get to their rooms or maybe some other areas

This would be my guess too. Ideally they would not want to inconvenience hotel guests over walk ins, but we will see when they open.

All I've heard is after the Gaming Control meeting.

I would guess 6pm as that is when it is most inconvenient for me. ;)

I change my mind 10 times a day about my July trip to Vegas. Can’t wait to hear early reports when things open up.

I mean, I had to do that today at Home Depot. Not ideal but not a huge deal.

I guess the deciding factor will really be how long of a wait. 15 minutes versus 3 hours, and everywhere in between. Some boots on the ground trip reports will really help with that

I’m the same, I’m relying on this site for my decision. Need to see a few trip reports.

Tuesday can’t come fast enough. I need to know whether I’m going to the desert or the gulf cost. June 5th departure either way

The press conference will be tomorrow at 5:30pm.

I will be listening and transcribing. I will post what I have as soon after the press conference as possible. I prefer to wait until I have all the info, rather than trying to be "first" to post. Please be patient. ;)

so many little details to consider - it won't be until Vegas is open for a while before they are all ironed out... small crowds (and they will be small for a long time IMO) will probably make implementing things easier...

I think I’d be fine going to a local (CT) if enough of it was open. But a six hour plane trip...definitely not there yet haha. Maybe vegas in a few months since Greece got cancelled!

You have to remember that casinos are a minority revenue-generator for Vegas resorts. If it were just the casino, that'd be one thing, but the real Strip money comes from conventions, shows, and nightclubs, none of which are coming back in short order. There's no compelling reason to continue disallowing gaming (especially for locals places, tarverns, etc.), but the major Vegas resorts have a different economic calculus, hence the phased reopening plans..

I just finished posting my notes from the Gaming Control Board meeting this morning in the COVID-19 Information Sticky. You can find that here - https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/index.php?posts/2038675/

Tonight I will post the information about the governor's press conference in the Sticky for the Governor's announcements here - https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/index.php?threads/governor-sisolak-reopening-plans-announcements.173287/

I will also post an open thread with any announcements so people can discuss them. Please wait until I post a thread when the conference is over. I want to be sure to gather all the information in one post without 10 other threads with the opening date or some other information being created in the need to be "first" to break the story. I promise I will have it posted as soon as I'm able to complete it. For the Gaming meeting today, that was less than 10 minutes after the conclusion.

    Thanks!

If Vegas is anything like my Locals in Washington, it’s going to be much more full than people think. There’s plenty of people in the high risk groups there, too. Degens are gonna degen. Just my opinion . I’ll see in 3 weeks.

I appreciate the very informative summary of the gaming control workshop this morning. But I has thought there were several letters submitted by the public regarding the 4-playing maximum limitation for poker, and I didn't see these mentioned in your list of the letters considered by the board. Were these actually read, and was there any reaction from the board on this issue?

Oops.. sorry.. I neglected to include those. Looking at my notes, there were two letters about increasing poker tables from 4 seats to six. I did not hear any response from the GCB about the issue though.

I will edit my post to include the questions about poker seating.
