I saw an LVRJ article today about the 35% restriction that included the line "Spa Services will continue to follow the same restrictions", so it sounds like nothing is changing for spas at this point and probably not until at least May 1st.

I am curious if masks are required once you sit down at a restaurant? I am heading for March Madness and will have a 4 person table at a bar. Will I be able to remove my mask?

My understanding is that it can be different at different establishments. I have seen people say they have been asked to keep them on until food is served, but I believe most just ask you wear them when walking around the restaurant.

I agree with @Sonya's assessment but I would say 90% of the time when I dined I was asked to keep my mask on until my beverage arrived, so even after I was sitting, and I was often dining solo. But then, someone would quickly bring out water and say it was okay to take my mask off as I had water. That was pretty much uniformly the process at Wynn, Encore, Venetian and Palazzo restaurants where I dined.

It really does vary a ton. At Majordomo we were affirmatively told, "You can take your masks off", once we were seated. At other V/P venues, nobody said anything, but to be fair, we were both really good about keeping it on while not eating or drinking (and as a courtesy, I usually put mine on when the server comes over). Overall, I'd say that people have come around to the mask thing and don't really make a big deal either way. They don't really make a huge deal about it anymore, but my sense is that it's because they don't have to -- people get it at this point.

Either way, if you're sitting at a bartop, I'd just respectfully suggest that you keep up on the masks for the servers' benefit. But if you're at a private table and distanced, it's not something they're going to jump on you about.

Separately, Aria has put in new dividers that have plexi between the players and the dealers, but not between the individual players. Other tables still have the ones with the dividers which stick out between players (and no, I have not walked into one recently), which makes me think they may be thinking of opening up a few more tables.

As soon as we sit down masks are off and we never had an issue at any restaurants we ate at on our last trip.

I wouldn't be surprised if most have installed automated counting systems. Even my local grocery store has a screen by the service counter that monitors the number of customers in the store. No need for security at the door until the property is about to reach capacity.

The technology exists, but it's not really widespread. The thing about Vegas casinos is that, unlike a grocery store, most of which have just one point of entry, the average casino has multiple ways to get in and out. Bellagio, for example, has the main valet entrance, the north valet entrance, the Via Bellagio entrance, and the walkway over from Vdara. Same with Aria, they have the main valet, the taxi area, the walkway from ParkMGM, the north valet, and the entrance by Crystals. It's logistically difficult, and you'd need to have security basically standing by to rush out there. And they can't just bar entry, they need to still let hotel guests in, so they need people checking keys.

And in addition, even at 25% capacity (now 35%) that's a really high bar given the size of the average casino floor.

They absolutely can (and do) track capacity through technology, even with multiple egress points.

There is also of course all of the older eye in the sky technology that I assume is at all of the entrances. I have no idea but I'm thinking the physical presence at the entrances is about actual counting but also the optics of showing that the casino resort IS counting plus someone needs to be checking for mask wearing, etc. anyway.

Not really. It's going to depend on the numbers. If they continue to go down, I expect we will see a lot more openings loosening of restrictions. I did see some talk about residencies coming back in summer, so they seem to be hopeful that show restrictions will be lifted.

But it's going to depend on what happens between now and then. There is reason for optimism, but it's all speculation until it happens.

It was in the article I linked in this post:
    https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/index.php?posts/2174326/

“The shows that require more like a 50- to 70-percent capacity to be profitable in their current locations will start coming back a month or two after this May 1 date everyone is talking about, and leading into the third quarter,” Kliavkoff said. “We will be bringing back those shows, and Cirque shows fall into that kind of wave.” Word around Cirque is shows could start coming back as early as July, barring unforeseen spikes in COVID numbers.

Park Theater headliners are coming back: Lady Gaga, Aerosmith, Bruno Mars and Cher are all expected to resume their residencies, though no firm timeline is possible.

    And they will have company.

“We anticipate that all of the residencies that we had when COVID started will be back after this period ends,” Kliavkoff said, “and we anticipate that we’ll have several new and really exciting residencies to announce as well. The announcement will be coming this calendar year, for sure.”

We get a new new set of guidelines starting today in Las Vegas. I'm going to go ahead and unsticky and close this thread and start a new one for the new capacity limits.
