so it finally happened. we got long hauled for the first time ever.

and to my disappointment, it was not by a cabbie but a lyft driver.
and guess what, we got tunneled going from the airport to Mandalay. came up to $19+.. it was ridiculous...

i even told him we come to Vegas 4 times a year and know our way around. he kept saying thru the tunnel is the "best" way to go and went on showing us his Lyft driver rating on his phone. we didn't want to argue with him as we were still in the car.

filed a complaint and Lyft got back to me right away and refunded me $7. told me that the driver did take the longer route and was not following what was suggested thru the app.

just wanted to share my experience.

Welcome to the "I've been long hauled" club. Glad to hear Lyft squared you up. It sucks, but life goes on.

It's unfortunate that a Lyft driver took advantage of you like that. But it's nice to know that Lyft adjusts the fare immediately. A lot less hassle than a taxi long-hauled fare.

This Lyft driver could also be or was a former cab driver. There are quite a few cabbies doing ride share driving on the side and I know a couple that quit the taxi business all together to do be ride share drivers. Unfortunately some cabbie turned ride share driver brings their bad cabbie habits with them.

You should have beaten him into submission and burned his car...your complaint was acceptable too.

Yeah that's right, just what we need more violence and property damage to settle differences.

This is the thing that will eventually weed out a large number of these types of drivers from ride sharing. Both Uber and Lyft make it so much easier to deal with versus the taxi authority. It's best to let the system take care of the bad apples.

it happens plenty with Uber and Lyft,
if you file a complaint, you usually can get a credit or adjustment on your fare.
it is still a better option that the taxi cabs. at least for now.

Hmmm, did I touch a nerve, mr uber driver? Seriously though , long hauling is stealing, pure and simple, it is not an option, you will drive the correct route and you will like it...capiche?

My long haul lyft driver claimed to be a twenty year cab driver who 'knew better'. He spouted a good game and was 'surprised' that the fare on my phone was more than his meter. I complained to Lyft and they are okay with the tunnel. It sounds so third world, but scream 'no tunnel.'

I'm not defending long-hauling it is wrong. But advocating violence and property destruction as a means to get back at the Uber driver that long hauls is far worse than what the long hauling driver did.

Long hauling would be a civil offense, what you are advocating in response would be a criminal felony offense, huge difference.

I am light and chilled, I just don't feel advocating beating a driver into submission and burning his vehicle is an appropriate response to stealing $7 on a long hauled fare.

Smartest thing you did in this situation... wait until you get to your destination to start the confrontation. Nobody needs to be dumped on the side of the freeway.

Knowing that Lyft as well as Uber will remedy the situation the wise thing is not to say anything to the driver and let Lyft or Uber know later.

I would be friendly to the driver let him/her believe all is well. After arrival at the destination I would give the driver a low rating and report it to Lyft or Uber.

i actually didnt give him a low rating. i think i still tipped him. i thought it would be mean to not tip at all and give a low rating.

now that i think about it, i guess i should have given a low rating and no tip. sigh.....

This is one area where uber is more hassle free than lyft. I have been successful with getting refunds from both; however, the process is more streamlined with uber.
