    My Trip Report

My wife and I are long time casino people. We live outside of Philadelphia, near Parx casino. Actually sometimes I walk there for a second cup of coffee. Don't like playing at Parx. Anyhow, we decided to take a day trip Golden Nugget AC. We arrived around 2 pm. No problem parking etc. Temperature check as soon as you enter. Even if you walk across the inner bridge to "The deck" they check you again coming back. This was our first trip since March 02, 2020. We stay at GN Atlantic City often, and we've stayed in Vegas a few times. AC is about 70 miles from our condo. So this is what we found. The temperature in the casino felt like 50 degrees. It was so cold. There were very few people playing. There is no indoor dining anywhere in New Jersey. Smoking is prohibited indoors at New Jersey casinos. You must go outside and get re-checked coming back in. No big deal, they are quick and courteous. There are a couple of restaurants open for take out only. You can sit down on "The deck" which has a beautiful overview of the marina. We decided to have an early dinner so we sat down at table. The waitress walked by and literally flipped us two paper menus. No greeting, no hello, no acknowledgement. We looked at the menu which was essentially bar food and got up and left. No one asked us if we wanted a drink or anything. By the by, there is no waitress service on the casino floor. No water, beer, or cocktails. I guess they were having a bad day at "the deck". In all the years we have been patronizing GN properties., this is the first time we received such poor service. We played about two hours and left. It is just so bogus. No buffet, machines shut down etc. I know their following the law, but we won't be back until this corona deal is done. It is just not worth the gas and tolls. Kudos to GN management for having the casino so clean. Gn is always neat and clean but now it's surgically clean. Good luck to all. Be careful. We need everybody.

    Thanks for the report.

It’s strange times in Atlantic City and NJ right now, playing by the rules set forth by the governor. Somehow he figures it’s ok to pack a beach or outdoor bar but not let restaurants use 25% of their indoor seating. I think that things will stay this way until the weather turns and no one is willIng to sit outside and eat.

Completely agree. Early on, I supported everything the Governor was doing up there but now that I’m seeing some of the inherent contradictions, it seems akin to throwing things arbitrarily at the wall and hoping to fall into a situation of stemming the spread.

Sorry to hear about your poor visit to GN, I always loved The Deck to practice my overbite with my favorite cover band Don’t Call Me Francis

The unfortunate part of visiting a Marina casino is that you can’t leave without getting in a car, taxi, uber, Jitney to visit one of the other 8 casinos. Which is why I like the boardwalk so if things get sideways, I can walk to another venue, plus there are many non casino restaurants along the boardwalk.
