no tries? should I save my $20 and my pride?

Gonna stay at GG later this month for the 1st time. I chose it for the location to the downtown beerfest. I'm really not expecting a great room. An upgrade would be nice and a crisp $20 seems like way to go. Has anyone tried the trick at the GG?

Never tried, but I don't really think it will help. There are two types of rooms at GG: the regular "old" rooms, and the "newer" suites. I don't think a $20 will get you in a suite, since there are only 6 of them in the hotel. Though I have been wrong before.

I don't know why but I think there's more than 6. I've stayed in them and use them to sleep for a couple of hours or take a new friend up there with me when I am to toasted to go back to the strip.

Has anybody confirmed if there are more than 6 suites or has anybody ever gotten an upgrade?

There are 16 suites, 2 of which are penthouses.

You can buy an upgrade to a suite by paying the difference in your comped room rate & the suite room rate...oh, and still no resort fee, since you're still on a comp.
If you know that you're going to be giving them a lot of play, it is possible to get those upgrade charges comped on the back-end... so, something to consider!

I've tried twice recently. Once in October 2023, once a few weeks ago. Both times, i was flat out told they do not do complimentary upgrades. Once I had the $20 on the counter, and once I sandwiched it. The sandwich lady did give the $20 back.

Interesting. I wonder if they do comp upgrades for Mavericks and Legends since it's part of the benefits. About 5 years ago, I got a complimentary upgrade to their penthouse when they oversold the regular suites. Crazy room. 2 bedrooms, 2.5 baths (each with a steam shower), 6 TVs, a patio with a grill.
