I will be staying at one of the suites at the Golden Gate in a few weeks. Anyone know how the construction is going? Do you think there will be a lot of noise in the AM? I typically stay out very late and like to sleep in a bit.

    Thanks,

    Bob

Stayed last week. They were welding the steel I beams when I was there. I had a room facing Main Street near Fremont Street so noise was not an issue for me.

Will this trip get cancelled also??? Hope not.

Am literally in a suite at the Golden Gate right now. It is very quiet. No street noise and no construction noise. I think all of the suites face towards the back of the hotel and that is why.

Noise is always a factor on the front facing rooms at the GG, construction or not. The suites in the back will put you the furthest away from the construction and Fremont noise.

Mine was partially comped but I have seen the suites regularly for around $79 during the week.

Keurig with 4 pods that are refilled daily (no charge,) 2 bottles of that fancy Fuji water, also free and restocked. Mini-fridge. Comfortable "living area" with a large sectional sofa. Safe. Very large TV. Is pretty nice.

Do you ask to upgrade when you make your reservation, or wait until you check in to ask?

You could try either way. Your chance at the room is probably better if you do it when making the reservation. However, you might get a better deal if you try during checkin.

Thanks for the info. Can you give an idea what you paid for the upgrade? I am in the same boat. I get the three nights free mailer but I know my wife would not stay in their basic room...

I think the suites are pretty limited in number, so if you need one, best to reserve it.

No, they'll just hand it back and offer to upgrade for $x/night.
