I didn't have any trouble with it while I was in the room...including while sleeping...of course, I typically get up 2 or 3 times a night to pee, so that may have been enough "motion" to keep things activated.
I've heard that the helium balloon trick works well with these systems.
Just a thought here, but you may want to ask the front desk if they can deactivate the motion-activated A/C...if they can't, then ask if they have an oscillating fan you can borrow.

I stayed in one in September, and I like my hotel rooms freezing cold especially while sleeping..I oddly did not have a problem.

inb4 @DaiLun talks about all the asian hotels that need you to slot your room key inside to turn ANYTHING on like lights, a/c, etc, which you need to pull out when you leave the room,
and oh damn I hope those bean counters aren't reading this, but it's probably coming soon enough.. :(

I’ve stayed in a hotel in Italy that had this exact feature too. I managed to bypass it by getting a second key made (which according to DaiLun’s reports isn’t as easy to do in Asia). But I have a feeling this would drive the OP crazier than a motion sensor would, especially if the second key wasn’t an option.

The M Resort has this...yup just ask for a second key. Easy Peasy. I'm pretty good about turning off anything I'm not using - just like at home. I just want the AC churning out that super cold air for my return!
