The wife and I are making our first trip to Tunica next month. We will be there on a Saturday through Tuesday. I have comped rooms at Gold Strike through MGM. what are the table game conditions there? Is the blackjack 3:2? What are usual table mins at blackjack, craps, and carnival games? How are the buffet and the restaurants? Any info would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Chicago Steakhouse is nice - quiet, great service, great food. (not over the top, but very good).

Pretty decent buffet and food court.

Horseshoe is right next door - easy walk - and a bit further to Roadhouse - lower end casino owned by Harrahs.

I have only played the high limits there. Those BJ tables still pay 3:2, but all tables are H17 and no surrender. During the week you can definitely find five dollar games at everything you mentioned. On the weekend, its ten bucks and up. Horseshoe next door is the same. Roadhouse, the next casino over, is more likely to have $5 minimums because it is generally slower than the neighboring casinos

Both GS and Horseshoe generally have one $5 craps table going but they are usually busy. I don't think finding a $10 craps table will be a problem. I don't play BJ so I can't help you there. If you are going to have a car the Fitzgerald, sams town, Hollywood, Ballys and Resorts all have lower limits as well.

unless there has been a change, No pitch BJ at Roadhouse anymore, all shoe games. Always a $10 DD 3:2 open at Gold Strike with DAS. Horseshoe DD is minimum $15 most if the time and 3:2 DAS.

I don't play at Gold Strike but too my knowledge the vast majority of BJ in Tunica is still 3:2

Off topic here, but curious how to get 3 comp'd nights from MGM for first time stay at Tunica?
I'm platinum at mlfe and my onlne offers for Gold Strike are discounted or call for rates. Considering trying Gold Strike for a couple nights on the way to visit my sister in Nashville and would be nice to get a comp'd room up front.:D

Sorry not a table player, but wish y'all good luck on your trip!

I am Gold and get free rooms at Beau Rivage and Gold Strike, but only get discounted rooms in Vegas. It's just because you don't go there. For me they are much more liberal in giving comps than Vegas. The rooms don't cost much during the week and if you play any you might get them comped after your stay, or you might call and talk to a host on duty and they might comp your rooms for your trip.

I would call and ask to talk to a host - or worse case the people that answer the phones. If you got to plat with a low number of trips, I would guess you have high enough play to get some room nights. Or if you are getting good to great offers in wherever you play Mlife, then GS would comp you. Where do you usually play?

Weeknights would be easiest to get. Weekends tougher and if an event is going on (show, tournament, etc), then weekend is real tough.

    Again... depends on your play.

I did not have any offers online for GS but I had multiple comp offers in Vegas and some midweek nights at National Harbor. The wife wants to see Graceland and I did not want to pay the casino rate so I called Gold Strike and asked what they could do for my dates and they comped them. I am a Pearl card holder as I only go to Vegas once a year but my ADT is not insignificant. I have been to NH twice since it's fairly close. Normally I go to Borgata or Maryland Live.

Thanks for your responses @Hogman and @nostresshere - good helpful suggestions - All my mlfe play is in Vegas (mostly slots) and platinum for many years with a host and good comps at several properties. But wasn't sure how to break the ice at a new place. So this helps and will call to see what if any up front comp they might do, and hopefully my level of slot play should yield some back end comps.

And thank you @RunningRam for sharing your experience about calling direct - it sounds like Gold Strike is willing to take a chance on comping based on play from other locations.

Hope you and your wife have a wonderful and lucky time in Tunica.
(I have family in Pennsylvania and have visited Borgata and Maryland Live in the past, I liked the non smoking at Maryland Live. But being a degenerate, I have no issues playing anywhere!).

If you have a host in Vegas at an mlife property, contact him or her and ask for help getting a host in Tunica. They all refer to one another frequently. Hell, I got an MGM Grand host as a referral from my Tunica host.

And FYI, if your play warrants it, you get an upfront daily resort credit. After that, the hosts just apply express comps rather than discretionary back end comps

@UKFanatic, thanks, I never thought about contacting my Vegas host, and thanks @nostresshere for the GS host contact info. Lots of good options now; planning a June/July visit so will try these. I've been reading a lot of Tunica posts here on VMB and it sounds like Tunica will be a good opportunity, er, excuse to try someplace new! Still have Beau Rivage on our radar for future trip but first things first!

Thanks again everyone for your help.

I think that once you go to GS, you will start getting offers from both GS and probably flight offers to the Beau Rivage if you live close to an airport that they use for junkets. They are great trips to BR, we are going on one in June.
