    My Trip Report

My best friend from college and I just got back from a wonderful weekend! We stayed at the Aladdin for an almost unheard of $79/nt. I'm still stunned we got that great a rate for a weekend.

I arrived early Friday morning and my friend didn't get in until later that evening so I spent the day gambling in the Mirage casino and had a fantastic lunch at Mon Ami Gabi.

When my friend got in we headed over to Mandalay for dinner at the Border Grill. They have great food and even better margaritas! Then we went to Studio 54 for a little dancing. We turned in early in preperation for a big day.

We started off the next day with a visit to Starbucks, then did a little shopping at the Desert Passage. We then headed off down the strip to take in the sights and do some people watching. We stopped at the Bellagio fountains for a bit, then we decided to try the Grand Lux Cafe for lunch and do some sightseeing on the way. Lunch was really really good and reasonably priced as well. How often do those two factors come together in Vegas? We hung out at Casino Royal for a bit after lunch for their $1 margaritas and some penny video poker. Then we headed back to the Aladdin for a disco nap.

My friend really wanted to check out the scene at the Palms, so I reluctantly gave in. We grabed a quick dinner at the Italian place in the Desert Passage. It was a pretty forgetable meal, but it was reasonably priced and service was very efficent.

So we then set out for the Palms. I wasn't looking forward to it, even though I'm in my late 20's I'm not one of the beautiful people, and I'm definitly not a party girl. But my friend assured me that if we felt out of place we could leave.

$20 later we gained entrance to Ghostbar. We arrived just after it opened and we were able to go right up, otherwise I don't think we would have gotten in. I have to say I was pleasantly suprised. The bar is nothing to write home about but the patio is really cool. Drinks were reasonably priced and generously poured. The DJ was very good as well. And while there were some silicone hotties there most people were pretty much like me, just looking to see what all the hype was about. My friend decided that the best birthday present she could give me (I turn 27 next week)was free reign on her bar tab. I took full advantage. The evening abruply ended when my friend passed out. So with the generous assistance of some guy she had been hanging out with, we got her back to our hotel. I have always depended on the kindness of strangers.

We awoke the next day late, but suprsingly hang over free. Our first order of business was to return to the Palms to retrieve my friends credit card and ID since we had left in a hurry and not closed out her tab the night before. After that we checked out the Rio since neither of us had ever seen it. Then we went to California Pizza Kitchen for lunch and to watch the final round of the US Open.

B then it was time to head to the airport to go home. It was time to go, I was tired and running out of money. It was a great weekend though, and I can't wait to go back!

Sounds liek you had a good trip....but it seems you should've been the one passed out since it was your birthday and your drinks were running on someonelse's tab [IMG]

But glad to hear you had fun. Wish you would've contacted me. I would've set you up nicely since it was your birthday.
