I don’t want to stay at the comped Golden Gate rooms anymore, so I’m trying to decide if I should upgrade to a Suite or get a standard room at the D for similar money. Thoughts?

If you are "OK" with the regular rooms at GG then I would say a GG suite would be a HUGE step up! I've only had one concern about the GG suites and that is the motion/infrared AC, but you seem to have managed with the "cooler" in the regular room. Even a standard room at the D would be a definite step up. Premium Corner King (The D) would be a step down from a GG Suite. If you are going at a slower time and are a gambler - I'd personally try the GG Suite and try to get the difference comped on the back end.

To expand on this - the GG Suites are nice. You get K-Cups, Fiji water, mini refer, a comfortable room, and a very convenient elevator ride to the casino floor. What you don't get are other amenities of a casino/hotel.
If you need a coffee bar, restaurant service onsite, and a comfortable room, consider the D. If the price point is about the same, I think it comes down to your personal preference in what you want/need from your hotel experience.
I've done both, each time it was dependent upon my specific situation.

Here's a video I took from Jan. '18 of a suite they comped me at the Golden Gate. Given a (comped) choice between the two, I wouldn't stay in a regular room at the D.

    Hi everyone,

I think the previous posts were missing the point of the question:

Is a premium corner king room at the D better than GG suite?

I've stayed in the D Suite, GG Suite, and seen "regular" rooms at the D and GG.

Agree that I would not stay in anything other than a suite at the GG. But if a D suite were not available, is a D corner king better than a GG suite?

GG gives a short elevator ride and a nice bathroom and sitting area. Only downside is the motion sensing AC. Both rooms have a couch (GG couch is bigger), both have a mini fridge.

I have a similar dilema coming in late March, GG suite or D corner king??

I've stayed in both....I would take the GG suite over the D's corner king.

    Which one is noisier?

The corner-king I had at the D was much noisier than the GG suites I've stayed in... but they put me on a lower floor, on the northwest corner... I suppose if you had a higher floor, facing south/east, it would be more quiet.

The question was specific to a GG suite or a D standard room. I don't think anyone missed the point :)

Strictly basing things on rooms alone, the GG suite is an obvious choice for me over the Standard D room or corner king.

For selfish reasons, i need to start bashing the GG suite because they're getting harder to reserve!!

I'll be checking into one ( GG suite) for my first time this Sunday. Actually, it's my first GG experience, ever. Although Plaza holds my heart, I'll admit, I'm excited to check out a new to me place DT.

I don't ask for much and am pretty easy to please. Heck, I am thrilled that they upgraded me right from the get go :). I'm sure it will be great!

Thanks for the info. The video was great. I was ready to do the GG Suite, but there wasn't any available. No problem, I'm fine with the D.
