As sure as expensive drinks and grinding couples, a staple of any hot nightclub is the line-up outside. The question never seems to go away: "How can we get into PURE [or Tryst, or Tao, or Jet, or any other Vegas nightclub that's hot at the moment] without waiting in line". This guide will help you gain admittance into the debauchery sooner and easier than you imagined.

Remember, there is no set rule as to how any single nightclub operates--the nightlife industry is a highly unregulated business leaving all decisions at the discretion of bouncers or doormen. Still, here are a few tips which guarantee you'll, if not get right in, lead ahead of the pack in the race to cross the velvet rope.

Get table service. This is the most expensive and also the most sure-fire option. Table service often has its own dedicated line (much shorter and moves quicker), cover is waived, you get your own seating area with table, liquor of your choice, mixers, waitress to serve the drinks (no fighting to get to the bar), and often a bouncer to watch your area. He can also aid with bathroom runs or invite eye-candy over to your space. After factoring in price per bottle and tips, most places will run about $125 to $200 per person or more. For the record, there isn't a single person I know (including myself) who doesn't believe this is worth every penny, especially if you're in a group of guys which brings us to the next tip...

Make sure your party's ratio favors women. Guys aren't going to have it easy getting into a nightclub, but a party of all girls can often just walk straight to the front and make their way in. If short on girls, try to make friends with a few while in line.

Get there early, preferably before the club opens. Be among the first in the doormen's eyes and they'll pity you more. Don't worry that you're not "fashionably late"--the line will take care of that.

Be known as a regular. You see it at every nightclub. There's always that one guy who does the old handshake-one-armed-hug thing with the bouncer and is let right in. Remember, in the end, it's all up to the bouncer's discretion. Loyalty and a good personality goes a long way in who the bouncer chooses.

Look like the nightclub would want you in there. The dress codes are simple. Just wear nice jeans and a collared shirt, but why settle with only that? If there were a time to pull out that Dolce and Gabbana coat, it's now. Shave. Make sure your look is polished. And for God's sake, don't put your shirt collar over your coat's unless you want to look like every other guy.

Split up. No nightclub wants to let in a party of six guys. If you can, split into groups of two and act as though you don't already know each other. Approach the door several minute apart from one another and it'll look less damaging to the nightclubs male/female ratio in the eyes of the bouncer.

Tip. Used alone or in combination with the previous suggestion, a $20 handshake goes a long way. I personally wouldn't tip more per head unless somehow you can negotiate the cover charge into the deal with the bouncer or doorman.

A word of advice: some bouncers prey off unknowing club-goers. I can't count the number of times I've been in a party that favors girls heavily when the bouncer says something to the extent of, "Okay, I can get you all right in for $30 a person including cover." This is often an inflated price and the bouncer pockets anything left after cover. Remember, you're doing the club a favor by bringing girls with you. If they're charging the women in your party the same price as men for cover, something's fishy. There's usually room for negotiation.

So go, apply these tips, and watch the velvet ropes part. May your lines be short, your dance floors spacious, and your bartenders generous with the pours. Enjoy!

Great tips Joe, and very true! I've done the $20 handshake before to skip the 3 hour line at Pure, and it was WELL worth it.

Sorry for my ignorance here but, In Ireland we dont have bottle sevice's so I was just wondering How much does this cost? Is it per person or per bottle? If per bottle how many people can it be split amongst and how many drinks would you get from a bottle?

Oh and I'm going to be staying in The Hotel and was wondering if Mix does this?

Bert, bottle service costs anywhere from $300-$450 for a bottle of semi top shelf and way more for the already overpriced Doms, Cristals, etc. These are Vegas prices; it's a little less in most other metropolises.

Generally, you're allowed one bottle per three people. Sometimes you can get away with four if it's a slower night. One bottle is good for 15-16 average drinks. When you factor in the tip to your host, cocktail waitress, and security guard, then you're looking at one expensive night out.

MIX indeed offers bottle service, but you really don't need it there. Even on a Saturday night I've never had to wait (although I do arrive early) and have been able to find a seat with patience.

Thanks Joe that clears a lot up.

Might forget about the service so if its easy enough to get in anyway.

Is the drink in vegas much more then other cities in the US, its the only city over there that iI've been to so have nothing to compare it to but for me to drink over there compared to over here it is very cheap.

I wouldn't say it's much more than LA, New York, etc. It's just that Vegas has more high-end, $12-per-shot places within a few square miles than any other city so it just seems that way. There are plenty of moderately priced bars and a few dives too.

Bottle service, on the other hand, is more expensive in Vegas because it's easy for the casinos to take advantage of the live-for-the-moment attitude young Vegas tourists tend to have. LA's Sunset Strip or Hollywood Blvd. clubs don't have the advantage of being attached to a casino where it's likely someone's bound to walk up to the bouncer feeling extra generous from all his winnings.

My best advice is to walk right up to a bouncer and plainly ask him "How much to let us in right now." I've been told $20 -$200 at some places. For the most part though if you offer/ask, you'd be amazed at what can happen.

Another tip is to be wearing decent shoes (no sneakers or work/hiking boots). Talked with a guy @ Pure and was about to get a group of 4 guys in ahead of the line for $40, but was held back b/c my brother managed to have some dingy shoes on. The bouncer was decent and offered my money back, but I let him keep it as a good joo-joo for the rest of the trip.

Also, keep your eyes peeled for people you might know. It sounds completely random but I went to high school with a doorman @ the Palms "Moon" nightclub. He recognized me and let our group of 5 guys in immediately with no cover. Sometimes it pays to be good with names!

usually on weeknights you can ask if you can get a two-for-one on bottle service, usually 400 for the 1st one second one free, with tip with six people its under a 100 dollars.

Do you find the lines move semi-quickly or not at all to get into some of the "less" top clubs? More middle of the road but not so much a dive kind of place. We are a group of 4 girls so hopefully that helps but I really dont want to spend all my time there waiting to be seen. I'd rather hop on over to some other place I can get in and have a good time than wait in line all night.

Most definitely, but as a group of 4 girls, you shouldn't have a problem getting in either way. For example, Jet has a line specific to groups that are girls only. TAO, if on guest list, will get you in within 15 minutes.

So for the not so "popular" clubs, you will definitely have no problem getting in.

Hey, I'm curious too, as a group of just 2 girls of Average looks (maybe a little above average, but
not drop-dead gorgeous) How possible is it to slide past the lines quickly? Is it presumptious to
try to just walk up to the bouncer and see if they will let us through?

I've always assumed the "Clubs need girls inside not guys" thing to be cliche and not real. Maybe
really really hot chicks can get past the lines but most of us will have to wait.

I'm looking at places like Krave and Voodoo as my Clubs of choice for my girls week out trip, and
just wondering if it is even IMAGINABLE to not have to wait to get in or at least wait for only
a little while. We are going during the week if that helps!

I mean, for any place thats worth it, your going to have to wait a little while. Though I do agree with everyone that the lines for Vegas Clubs do get long, Ive never waited more than 45 minutes to get into any club. This includes rolling to the club with 8 guys, 6 guys, 8 guys 6 girls, 4 guys, etc. With just girls, you should be fine anywhere you go.

    How sad....

.....grown men and women obsessing about "getting in." Aren't you supposed to stop worrying about your peers' approval in like, junior high school? I hope you never have a real honest to goodness problem. But don't worry- whatever happens you'll be able to say you "got in".:vomit:

I just love people who minimalize situations to their basic idea and then make a whole argument or disgruntled comment on that most basic of situations.

The real issue is that, if you are going to pay money, big money to get into a place and party and have fun, wouldn't you want to try and find somewhere that gives you most of the things you want:

Cheap(er) drinks (I guess I can stomach $15 a cocktail, but if someone knows of a secret club that is only $10 per bloody mary, sign me up right now!)
    Low cover-charge
    Better Staff Service
    Shorter Waits
    Good Music
    Decent Atmosphere
    Fun times

The place with the most out of that list would normally when, and the list can be different for each person. Someone may not care about cost but doesn't want a crowd, whereas I'm okay with crowds as longs as the staff can handle them too. It's all about what you want and knowing how long you are going to wait in line or how much it'll cost to just slip by the line is a good planning tool. And the hints I've heard of this fabled "Girls get in quick" scenario is at the very least worth checking out!

Manda, don't worry AT ALL about getting into any of the clubs, as a group of 4 girls you will have NO PROBLEM. You'll be stopped all the time on the strip by promoters asking if you wanna be on the guestlist. The first time I went to Vegas I was also worried about this...I've been 4 times now, and I never worry, I've never waited more than 10 min to get in anywhere. Have a great time and hit up all the top clubs! :)
